WE ARE A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO ADMINISTER A WHOLISTIC APPROACH TO LIFTING RESIDENTS OUT OF POVERTY BY PROVIDING SKILLS, RESOURCES AND KNOWLEDGE THAT PLACES FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS ON A PATHWAY TO SUSTAIN PRODUCTIVE LIVING.

THE SKILLED TRADES TRAINING PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SPONSOR COHORTS OF UP TO 15 INDIVIDUALS PER COHORT WITH THE ENDING OBJECTIVE BEING TO GET THE ENROLLEES A CERTIFICATION AS A PRE-APPRENTICE IN THE NCCER CORE CURRICULUM. THIS WILL PUT THEM ON A PATHWAY TO A FULL APPRENTICESHIP AS WELL AS GAIN THEM ENTRY-LEVEL EMPLOYMENT IN A CHOSE FIELD OF THE TRADES. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2023 (JULY 1,2022 - JUNE 30, 2023) THREE COHORTS WERE HELD, WITH A TOTAL NUMBER OF ENROLLEES OF FOR THE THREE COHORTS COMBINED WERE 43. OF THE 43 WHO ENROLLED, 35 COMPLETED ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS AND WERE AWARDED THEIR NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATION AS A PRE-APPRENTICE (81% SUCCESS RATIO). OF THE 35 WHO BECAME CERTIFIED, 28 BECAME EMPLOYED IN THE INDUSTRY AS A SKILLED TRADES WORKER (80% / 65%). IN ADDITION TO THE SKILLED TRADES CERTIFICATION, WE ALSO PROVIDE TRAINING IN THE AREAS OF FINANCIAL LITERACY AND MENTAL/BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AWARENESS. EACH PARTICIPANT WHO RECEIVED THEIR SKILLED TRADE CERTIFICATION ALSO RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION FOR THE OTHER TWO COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM. AFTER THE PROGRAM HAS FORMALLY ENDED, WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE WRAP-AROUND SERVICES IN THE AREAS OF EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION AND GENERAL MENTORING AND SUPPORT.
OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES FOR THE TWO PROGRAMS LISTED PREVIOUSLY
THE MOTHER'S COVE PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE HEALTH REMEDIATION SERVICES IN THE AREAS OF MATERNAL HEALTH AND INFANT MORTALITY PREVENTION. WE TARGET ZIP CODES 43232 AND 43227 GIVEN THAT THESE AREAS ARE AMONG THE AREAS WITHIN THE GREATER COLUMBUS, OHIO AREA THAT HAS EXPERIENCED THE HIGHEST RATE OF DEATHS AMONG BLACK BABIES AT A RATE OF 16 DEATHS PER 1000 LIVE BIRTHS. THE PROGRAM SEEKS TO EDUCATE 60 MOTHERS PER YEAR THROUGH A SERIES OF 3-4 COHORTS PER FISCAL YEAR AS TO HOW TO CARE FOR THEMSELVES BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE PREGNANCY AS WELL AS HOW TO CARE FOR THEIR NEWBORN TO ENSURE THAT THE FIRST BIRTHDAY IS REALIZED. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A SERIES OF COURSES THAT INVOLVE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS, LARGELY FROM THE THE FIELD OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS WHO ADDRESS SPECIFIC TOPICS RELATED TO LIFE-SKILLS ENHANCEMENT AND OVERALL SELF AND FAMILY CARE. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2023, 68 MOMS WENT THROUGH THE PROGRAM AND RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION FOR HAVING ATTENDED THE SESSIONS. THE SUBJECTS THAT ARE COVERD DURING THE COHORT ARE 1) HEALTHY ME (GENERAL HEALTH & WELLBEING), 2) FUND ME (FINANCIAL LITERACY), 3) TEACH ME (EDUCATIONS ROLE IN A BETTER LIFE), 4) INSPIRE ARE 1) HEALTHY ME (GENERAL HEALTH & WELLBEING), 2) FUND ME (FINANCIAL LITERACY), 3) TEACH ME (EDUCATIONS ROLE IN A BETTER LIFE), 4) INSPIRE AFTER HAVING GIVEN BIRTH.
