ADVOCACY & EDUCATION HIE ADVOCATES FOR, AND EDUCATES ON, DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION OF HISPANICS AND LATINOS OF ALL RACES AND NATIONALITIES IN ENERGY-RELATED POLICYMAKING, FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES, AND LEGISLATION IMPACTING OUR NATIONS HISPANIC RATEPAYERS, CONSUMERS, LABORERS, AND STUDENTS, AS WELL AS THE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF OUR NATION. HIE CONVENES SUMMITS AND PARTICIPATES IN ACTIVITIES AROUND THE USA TO ENGAGE, ADVOCATE, EDUCATE, LEARN FROM, AND COLLABORATE WITH STAKEHOLDERS AND LEADERS IN EDUCATION AND ACADEMIA, STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, CORPORATE AND SMALL BUSINESSES, AND COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS. HIE ADVOCATES FOR REACHING PARITY IN PROPORTIONAL DEMOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION ON ENERGY AND REGULATED UTILITY COMPANY BOARDS OF DIRECTORS, IN THE C-SUITE, ON PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSIONS, IN GOVERNMENT WORKFORCE AND LEADERSHIP ROLES, AND IN ELECTED AND APPOINTED POLICY-MAKING POSITIONS.
BUSINESS CONTRACT DEVELOPMENT/SUPPLIER DIVERSITY HIE HAS ESTABLISHED A PARTNERSHIP AND MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH US HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (USHCC) TO INCREASE PROCUREMENT OPPORTUNITIES, C-SUITE RECRUITMENT, AND ACCESS TO CAPITAL FOR HISPANIC BUSINESS ENTERPRISES (HBES) AND HISPANIC AND LATINO PROFESSIONALS OF ALL RACES AND NATIONALITIES TO FURTHER EVOLVE IN THE ENERGY SECTOR. THE PROCUREMENT OPPORTUNITIES INVOLVE HBES, ENERGY COMPANIES, AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES. THE PARTNERS ARE COMMITTED TO IDENTIFYING CERTIFICATION, PROCUREMENT, AND SUPPLIER DIVERSITY ISSUES IN THE ENERGY SECTOR THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED TO IMPROVE THESE MECHANISMS FOR HBES TO ACCESS SUPPLY CHAINS.
