Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3

EXPANDING COLLEGE FOR EXCEPTIONAL LEARNERS (EXCEL) IS A PIONEER IN THE POST-SECONDARY MOVEMENT FOR STUDENTS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND/OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. WE HAVE STARTED AND SUPPORTED A PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI WHICH IS NOW SELF-SUSTAINING. OTHER EFFORTS INCLUDE PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO A PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS, ALSO SELF-SUSTAINING. IN 2017, WE RECEIVED A GRANT TO COORDINATE AND SUPPORT UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST AS THEY WORK TO EXPAND AND ENHANCE THEIR PROGRAMMING. EXCEL IS CURRENTLY IN AN ACTIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH WEBSTER UNIVERSITY (ST. LOUIS) AS IT EXPLORES HOW TO DEVELOP A PROGRAM. WE CONTINUE OUR WORK SUPPORTING AND COORDINATING THE MIDWEST POST-SECONDARY INCLUSIVE ALLIANCE (MIPSA), A CONSORTIUM OF UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST THAT WAS AN OUTCOME OF THE 2017 GRANT. POSITIVE IMPACTS INCLUDE TYPICALLY DEVELOPING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, STUDENTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES AND POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS. DUE TO COVID-19, EXCEL HAD NO ACTIVITY IN 2020 BUT WILL RESUME PROGRAMMING WHEN IT'S SAFE TO DO SO.
