MCDC OPERATES SEVERAL QUALITY-OF-LIFE AND CLEANING/ GREENING PROGRAMS WITHIN THE MAYFAIR NEIGHBORHOOD. IN 2023, MCDC ACHIEVED THE FOLLOWING:- CLEANING & GREENING: MCDC CONTINUES ITS COMMITMENT TO A CLEAN MAYFAIR NEIGHBORHOOD BY EMPLOYING AN INDIVIDUAL WHO TRAVELS THE NEIGHBORHOOD EACH MORNING BEFORE SUNRISE TO REMOVE TRASH FROM THE SIDEWALKS, TAKE DOWN BANDIT SIGNS ON POLES, CLEAN-UP GRAFITTI, ETC. THE BATTLE AGAINST BLIGHT IS MCDC'S MOST IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. IN 2023, MCDC RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEWER TRUCK TO FACILITATE OUR CLEANING EFFORTS.- EVENTS: IN 2023, MCDC HOSTED ITS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS VILLAGE AND CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING EVENT, WHICH WAS ENJOYED BY HUNDREDS OF NEIGHBORS WHO CAME TOGETHER TO HEAR LIVE MUSIC, ENJOY FOOD, SHOP VENDORS, AND MEET SANTA & MRS. CLAUS.- HOMETOWN HEROES: GIVEN THE SUCCESS OF OUR 2022 EFFORT TO INSTALL BANNERS ALONG CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS HONORING OUR LOCAL VETERANS, IN 2023 WE BEGAN COMPILING THE LIST FOR PHASE 3 OF THE HOMETOWN HEROES PROGRAM.
