A MAJOR FOCUS OF THE INTERNATIONAL LIONS ASSN IS TO HELP PEOPLE WITH SIGHT AND VISION PROBLEMS IMPROVE THEIR VISION. OTHER HEALTH CARE NEEDS SUPPORTED BY THE PROJECTS INCLUDE HEARING, DIABETES, AND CANCER. THE MAIN CHARITABLE ACTIVITY OF THIS ORGANIZATION (SEPARATE FROM IT'S LIONS CLUB AFFILIATIONS) IS THE ACQUISION OF SURPLUS LAND FOR THE PUBLIC'S USE AS A PUBLIC PARK AND COMMUNITY MEETING AREA. VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTE THEIR TIME FOR THE ONGOING MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF THE PUBLIC PARK, INCLUDING PROVIDING ACTIVITIES, ENTERTAINMENT, AND BBQ'S FOR MAJOR HOLIDAYS. THIS GROUP ALSO CONDUCTS FUNDRAISING EVENTS TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT LOCAL COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES SUCH AS SCHOLARSHIPS, FOOD AND CLOTHING BANKS, COMMUNITY BEAUTIFICATION, SPECIAL TARGET PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH AND SENIOR CITIZENS, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.
