THE WILLAMETTE MASTER CHORUS CONTINUED THE TRADITION OF BRINGING EXCEPTIONAL MUSIC TO SALEM, WILLAMETTE VALLEY AREA, OREGON, THE USA AND NATIONWIDE THIS YEAR AS THE ORGANIZATION PIVOTED TO OFFERING VIRTUAL CONCERTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE CHORUS RETAINED 75%+ OF OUR MEMBERS THAT BEGAN TO REHEARSE AT HOME AND LEARNED TO VIDEOTAPE THEIR PART OF EACH SONG THAT WAS ASKED OF THEM. CHORUS MEMBERS VOLUNTEERED TO LEARN THE LOGISTICS OF PUTTING TOGETHER VIRTUAL PIECES AND THEN ADDING TO THOSE SKILLS TO PUT TOGETHER FULL CONCERTS FOR OUR VIEWERS TO ENJOY. WMC WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE OUR MUSIC EDUCATION OUTREACH PROGRAMS, BY SUPPORTING VIRTUAL MUSIC LESSONS TO MORE UNDER-SERVED YOUTH IN THE SALEM/KEIZER SCHOOL DISTRICT, VIRTUAL MASTERCLASS SESSIONS AND SUPPORT TO SALEM/KEIZER STUDENTS AND BY SUPPORTING A COLLEGE MUSIC STUDENT WITH A SCHOLARSHIP. WE ARE ESPECIALLY PROUD OF OUR CHORUS FOR PERSEVERING DURING THIS CHALLENGING TIME AND CONTINUING TO PRODUCE QUALITY CHORAL MUSIC AND LIFTING THE SPIRITS OF EACH OTHER AND VIEWERS FAR AND WIDE.
