STRIVE CLT BEGAN ITS PUBLIC OPERATIONS ON OCTOBER 6, 2022 WITH A READING LITERACY PROGRAM FOCUSED ON VOLUNTEER TUTORS USING THE ACTIVE READING TECHNIQUE TO TUTOR STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN THIRD GRADES 3 TIMES A WEEK. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2022, STRIVECLT TRANSITIONED TO A FULL AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM, CONTINUING THE ACTIVE READING TUTORING AND ALSO OFFERING HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, VOCABULARY REINFORCEMENTS, SOCIAL EMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND ENRICHMENT EXPERIENCES. OUR NON-PROFIT ALSO OFFERED ONE FREE LAPTOP FOR EACH FAMILY AS WELL AS A NEW ADJUSTABLE DESK AND CHAIR SET AT NO COST - FOR THE CHILD TO USE AT HOME. OTHER THAN PROGRAM-RELATED MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES, MOST OF THE EXPENSE COST WAS FOR THE STAFF HIRED TO OVERSEE THE READING TUTORING COMPONENT (ONE TUTOR FACILITATOR) AND AN ADDITIONAL STAFF PERSON (STRIVECLT AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR) HIRED TO OVERSEE THE EXPANDED CHILD-CARE EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT. NO GRANTS WERE PAID TO OTHERS TO IMPLEMENT THIS PROGRAM.
