IN ADDITION, IT IS THE AREA'S OFFICIAL DESTINATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF SEDONA, AND THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND ARIZONA'S FIRST OFFICIALLY ADOPTED SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PLAN. THE SEDONA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & TOURISM BUREAU HAS BEEN AN ACCREDITED DESTINATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION THROUGH THE DESTINATIONS INTERNATIONALS ACCREDITATION PROGRAM (DMAP) SINCE 2014. DMAP IS AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ACCREDITATION PROGRAM REQUIRING ORGANIZATIONS TO DEMONSTRATE COMPLIANCE COMPOSED OF 58 MANDATORY STANDARDS INCLUDING GOVERNANCE, FINANCE, MANAGEMENT, HUMAN RESOURCES, TECHNOLOGY, VISITOR SERVICES, GROUP SERVICES, SALES, COMMUNICATIONS, MEMBERSHIP, BRAND MANAGEMENT, DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT, RESEARCH/MARKET INTELLIGENCE, INNOVATION AND STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS. DMAP IS AN INDEPENDENT INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITING BODY AND IS GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED BY THE DESTINATION MARKETING INDUSTRY. DMAP ACCREDITATION IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE HIGHEST ACHIEVEMENTS IN DESTINATION EXCELLENCE. THE SEDONA SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PLAN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF SEDONA WAS ADOPTED IN MARCH 2019 AND IS THE GUIDING DOCUMENT USED BY THE ORGANIZATION TO FIND BALANCE FOR A ROBUST TOURISM ECONOMY AND AMAZING VISITOR EXPERIENCE WITH ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AND QUALIFY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS. THE VISITSEDONA.COM WEBSITE RECEIVED 6.1 MILLION VIEWS WITH ALMOST 2.2 MILLION UNIQUE VISITORS IN FY21.
THE SEDONA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & TOURISM BUREAU IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF MANAGING SEDONA'S $1 BILLION TOURISM INDUSTRY. THE 3.4 MILLION ANNUAL VISITORS PROVIDE APPROXIMATELY $30 MILLION IN LOCAL BED AND SALES TAX DOLLARS AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT TAX REVENUES. VISITORS CONTRIBUTE 77% OF ALL CITY OF SEDONA SALES TAX AND BED TAX REVENUES, WHICH PAYS FOR THE BASIC CITY SERVICES, SUCH AS POLICE AND PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAMS, WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITIES, MAINTENANCE OF STREETS AND SIDEWALKS, AND PARKS AND RECREATION. THE UPTOWN SEDONA VISITOR CENTER, OWNED AND MANAGED BY THE SEDONA CHAMBER, IS ONE OF THE BUSIEST IN THE STATE HAVING SERVED 103,000 VISITORS IN FY21 IN-PERSON OR VIA PHONE OR ONLINE. STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ACT AS DESTINATION EXPERTS, GREETING GUESTS AND OFFERING INSIGHTS TO THE AREA'S AMENITIES WHILE EDUCATING VISITORS ON IMPORTANT SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES INCLUDING ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AND RECREATING RESPONSIBLY. VOLUNTEERS DONATED 2,900 HOURS IN FY21.
