MCFC HELD A BACK TO SCHOOL BASH ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2023, AT MT. OLIVET BAPTIST CHURCH. THIS YIELDED OVER 375 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHERE BOOKBAGS FILLED WITH SUPPLIES WERE HANDED OUT. FOOD WAS ALSO PROVIDED SUCH AS HAMBURGERS, HOTDOGS, CHIPS, FRUIT, AND DRINKS. ENTERTAINMENT WAS PROVIDED AND KEYNOTE SPEAKER WAS SENATOR SAMRA BROUK.MCFC YOUTH AND FAMILY WELLNESS CONFERENCE - MCFC HAS DILIGENTLY CONVENED BI-WEEKLY MEETINGS WITH AN ESTEEMED CONSORTIUM OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS. THIS COLLABORATIVE EFFORT CULMINATES IN THE UPCOMING YOUTH AND FAMILY WELLNESS CONFERENCE, A FLAGSHIP EVENT POISED TO GALVANIZE OUR COMMUNITY. SCHEDULED FOR MAY 31 AND JUNE 1, 2024, THIS TWO-DAY EXTRAVAGANZA PROMISES INTERACTIVE SESSIONS, INSIGHTFUL PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND INSPIRING KEYNOTE SPEAKERS, SUCH AS CANDACE CABRAL AND BRUCE JOHNSON. WITH A FOCUS ON HOLISTIC WELLNESS ENCOMPASSING MENTAL HEALTH, FINANCIAL STABILITY, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, THE CONFERENCE IS POISED TO MAKE A PROFOUND IMPACT ON ATTENDEES. THIS CONFERENCE FOR BOTH DAYS YIELDED OVER 400 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHERE BOOKBAGS AND MENTAL HEALTH WELLNESS KITS WERE GIVEN OUT. ADDITIONALLY, A HOT CATERED MEAL FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH WAS PROVIDED.MCFC SPEARHEADED THE REVITALIZATION OF THEIR COMMUNITY GARDENS. SCHEDULED FOR IMPLEMENTATION ON APRIL 15, 2024, THIS INITIATIVE AIMED TO PROVIDE FRESH PRODUCE FOR RESIDENTS OF THE 14621 NEIGHBORHOODS WHILE FOSTERING A DEEPER CONNECTION TO HEALTHY EATING THROUGH EDUCATIONAL COOKING CLASSES. COLLABORATING WITH ESTEEMED PARTNERS LIKE CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSIONS, WE ARE COMMITTED TO EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES THROUGH SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES THAT PROMOTE WELL-BEING, AND THE COMMUNITY GARDEN COLLABORATION WITH SCHOOL #45. FIRST DAY OF PLANTING WITH YOUTH AT THE SCHOOL WAS MAY 31ST, 2024, ENDED ON JULY 25TH, AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS INVITED TO PICK UP FRESH PRODUCE WHICH YIELDED OVER 30 PARTICIPANTS.
