Part 3 - Line 4a
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT CITIZENS PROJECT PROVIDES ELECTION EDUCATION RESOURCES FOR THE COMMUNITY. THE SIGNATURE VOTER GUIDE REACHES MORE THAN 180,000 PEOPLE BY BEING PUBLISHED IN THE COLORADO SPRINGS BUSINESS JOURNAL, COLORADO SPRINGS INDEPENDENT, IN OTHER COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS, AND ONLINE. OTHER NONPARTISAN ELECTION EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE FORUMS FOR CANDIDATES AND TO DISCUSS BALLOT MEASURES. EACH ELECTION CITIZENS PROJECT ENGAGES UNDERREPRESENTED VOTERS THOUGH GET-OUT-THE-VOTE WORK.
EDUCATION/ADVOCACY CITIZENS PROJECT RUNS ONGOING PROGRAMS TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND ADVOCATE FOR OUR VALUES. WE WATCHDOG LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO ENSURE THAT EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY ARE BEING UPHELD. PROGRAMMING IS RESPONSIVE TO CURRENT EVENTS AND SEEKS TO LOCALIZE ISSUES OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE. ACTIVITIES RANGE FROM HOSTING COMMUNITY DISCUSSIONS TO LEGISLATIVE MONITORING BY URGING LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS TO UPHOLD LAWS THAT PROTECT EQUALITY. THE NETWORK ALERTS CITIZENS TO SPEAK OUT IN A TIMELY WAY ON LEGISLATION AT THE STATE AND LOCAL LEVEL. PUBLICATION OF LEGISLATIVE REPORT CARD INFORMS THE COMMUNITY OF HOW THEY ARE REPRESENTED ON ISSUES THAT REFLECT THEIR VALUES. WE ALSO HOSTED OUR CREATING COMMUNITY BREAKFAST TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORIES WE HAVE HAD AS A COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATION OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS.
LAW ENFORCEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY CITIZENS PROJECT IS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN A COALITION OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS WORKING TOWARDS ACCOUNTABILITY FOR OUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND JUSTICE FOR THOSE HARMED BY POLICE BRUTALITY.
