THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ESTABLISH FINGER LAKES WINE COUNTRY AS THE TOP-OF-MIND BRAND WITH A VISION THAT THE POTENTIAL VISITOR WILL HAVE A CLEAR IMAGE OF FINGER LAKES WINE COUNTRY, WHAT IT OFFERS, AND HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN ITS EXPERIENCES.

DESPITE THE CONTINUED CHALLENGES OF 2021 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTED A MULTIFACETED INTEGRATED MARKETING PROGRAM AIMED AT INCREASING AWARENESS OF THE FINGER LAKES WINE COUNTRY BRAND. ONE OF THE CORNERSTONES OF THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM OF WORK IS MEDIA RELATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED FIVE JOURNALISTS IN 2021 WITH THE GOAL OF CONTENT CREATION REGARDING THEIR VISIT TO THE REGION FOR FLWC TO USE AND TO BE PUBLISHED IN TRAVEL AND LIFESTYLE PUBLICATIONS AND DIGITAL OUTLETS, INCLUDING THE JOURNALISTS' SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS.


THE FINGER LAKES WINE COUNTRY BRAND'S SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS SAW CONTINUED GROWTH IN 2021. THE FINGER LAKES WINE COUNTRY FACEBOOK AUDIENCE INCREASED 1.4% TO 76.9K LIKES; TWITTER INCREASED 0.9% TO 10.9K FOLLOWERS, YET WITH STRONG ENGAGEMENT FROM A MEDIA-FOCUSED AUDIENCE; INSTAGRAM SAW THE LARGEST GROWTH FOR THE BRAND IN 2021, WITH A 20% INCREASE TO 15.5K FOLLOWERS.


THE ORGANIZATION ADMINISTERED TWO TARGETED MEDIA BUYS IN 2021; THE FIRST WAS IN THE SUMMER, RUNNING MAY THROUGH AUGUST; THE SECOND WAS IN THE FALL AND WINTER, RUNNING NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER. THE GOAL OF THE CAMPAIGN WAS DRIVING TRAFFIC TO THE FINGER LAKES WINE COUNTRY WEBSITE (WWW.FINGERLAKESWINECOUNTRY.COM). CUMULATIVE ACROSS ALL CHANNELS, THE CAMPAIGN GENERATED 25.5 MILLION IMPRESSIONS AND 97.3K CLICKS. DURING THE SUMMER CAMPAIGN OVERALL WEBSITE TRAFFIC INCREASED 134% OVER 2020. DURING THE WINTER CAMPAIGN OVERALL WEBSITE TRAFFIC INCREASED 23% OVER 2020. IN 2020, DUE TO THE CHALLENGES OF THE PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION SHIFTED THE TARGET MARKET FOR THE PAID MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO UPSTATE NEW YORK METRO AREAS INCLUDING ROCHESTER, BUFFALO, SYRACUSE, BINGHAMTON, AND ELMIRA/CORNING. IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION SHIFTED BACK TO LONGER-HAUL MARKETS INCLUDING BUFFALO, WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON, HARRISBURG, AND PHILADELPHIA. TOTAL WEBSITE TRAFFIC IN 2021 WAS 384,242 SESSIONS, UP 2% OVER 2020. THE ORGANIZATION ADDED 895 OPT-IN SUBSCRIBERS TO THEIR CONSUMER EMAIL DATABASE.
