THE MISSION OF HUMANITIES TEXAS IS EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE. THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF CLASSROOM TEACHING, SUPPORT LIBRARIES AND MUSEUMS, AND CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LIFELONG LEARNING, WE ADVANCE EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THE STATE. AS THE STATE AFFILIATE FOR THE

HUMANITIES TEXAS ADMINISTERS A COMPETITIVE GRANTS PROGRAM; CREATES AND CIRCULATES TRAVELING EXHIBITIONS; HOLDS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS AND SUMMER INSTITUTES AND PRODUCES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO SUPPORT TEXAS SCHOOLS; ADMINISTERS AN AWARDS PROGRAM THAT RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING TEACHERS; DEVELOPS PUBLICATIONS, AND MAINTAINS A WEBSITE AND ONLINE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES. OUR PROGRAMS STRENGTHEN TEXAS COMMUNITIES BY CULTIVATING THE KNOWLEDGE AND JUDGEMENT THAT REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY DEMANDS OF ITS CITIZENS. THESE PROGRAMS ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO TEXAS'S THRIVING ECONOMY, CULTURE, AND CIVIC LIFE.
