IN ORDER TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE MARION COUNTY FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORT PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BOTH LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY MONITORING COMMUNICATIONS WITH MEMBERS AND PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS ABOUT FARMING. VOLUNTEER MEMBERS TRAVELED TO WASHINGTON TO HOLD A POLICY MEETINGS WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AGRICULTURE ISSUES AND CONCERNS.


MARION COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. MEMBERS CAN PARTICIPATE IN DISTRICT, STATE AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCES TO LEARN ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE.


MARION COUNTY FARM BUREAU PARTICIPATES ANNUAL IN THE SAFETY PROGRAMS THAT ARE OFFERED THROUGH THE MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU FEDERATION. SEVERAL CPR AND FIRST AID CLASSES ARE TAUGHT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. FATAL VISION/TEXTING PROGRAMS, LAWN/TRACTOR SAFETY PROGRAMS ARE ALSO TAUGHT. IN ADDITION THE WOMENS COMMITTEE PROVIDE PROGRAMS IN THE SCHOOL TO ENCOURAGE FUTURE INTEREST IN A CAREER IN AGRICULTURAL.
