PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMS:IN ORDER TO PROTECT & PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY OKTIBBEHA COUNTY FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORTS PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY MONITORING, COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS, AND PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS. VOLUNTEER MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN YEARLY MEETINGS WITH STATE LEGISLATURE TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AGRICULTURAL POLICY. THIS YEAR MEMBERS VISITED WASHINGTON TO MEET WITH FEDERAL LEGISLATORS.


AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES:OKTIBBEHA COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBER LEADERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDED STATE CONFERENCES TO NETWORK WITH FARMERS FOR EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS AND ISSUES FACING THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY. BOARD MEMBER BRANDI KARISCH COMPETED IN THE NATIONAL EXCELLANCE IN AGRICULTURAL CONTEST IN AUSTIN TEXAS THIS YEAR.


THE OKTIBBEHA FARM BUREAU IS INVOLVED IN THE YOUNG FARMER PROGRAM. MEMBERS SERVE IN LEADERSHIP ROLES AT THE STATE LEVEL. THEY PARTCIPATE IN ORGANIZATING CONFERENCES TO HELP THEIR PEERS FARM WITH BEST PRACTICES.
