PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO PROTECT & PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE LAWRENCE CO FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORTS PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL, STATE & NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BOTH LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY MONITORING COMMUNICATIONS WITH MEMBERS & PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS ABOUT FARMING & RURAL LIFE & PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY. VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN THE SPONSORSHIP OF MEET THE CANDIDATE ACTIVITIES & YEARLY POLICY MEETINGS WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AG POLICY & HOW THE INDUSTRY IS IMPACTED BY LAWMAKERS.

LEADERS ATTEND DISTRICT, STATE & NATIONAL CONFERENCES TO NETWORK WITH FARMERS & OTHER AGRICULTURALISTS TO LEARN ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE. A HIGHLY DEVELOPED COMMITTEE STRUCTURE PROVIDES LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS THROUGH MEETINGS, REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS, AND AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT LAWRENCE COUNTY FARM BUREAU SUPPORTS YOUTH AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATIONS FINANCIALLY SUCH AS THE LAWRENCE COUNTY 4-H AND FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA. LAWRENCE COUNTY FARM BUREAU ALSO GIVES A SCHLORSHIP EACH YEAR TO A SENIOR STUDENT WHO PLANS ON MAJORING IN AGRICULTURE. THE LAWRENCE COUNTY FARM BUREAU HAS A FARM DAY WHERE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN CAN COME AND SEE THE WORKING OF A REAL FARM AND HOW LIVESTOCK IS TAKEN CARE OF AND WHERE THEIR FOOD AND FIBER COME FROM. THIS IS AN EYE OPENING EXPERIENCE FOR THE CHILDREN TO SEE HOW IMPORTANT AGRICULTURE IS TO THE SUSTAINABILITY OF LIFE.
