PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO PROTECT & PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE DICKSON CO FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORTS PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BOTH LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY MONITORING, COMMUNICATIONS WITH MEMBERS & PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS ABOUT FARMING & RURAL LIFE & PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY. VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN SPONSORSHIP OF MEET THE CANDIDATE ACTIVITIES & YEARLY POLICY MEETINGS WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AG POLICY & HOW THE INDUSTRY IS IMPACTED BY LAWMAKERS.


AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES THE DICKSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBER LEADERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. THEY PARTICIPATE IN OTHER LOCAL ACRICULTURAL CIVIC & COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. LEADERS ATTEND DISTRICT STATE & NATIONAL CONFERENCES TO NETWORK WITH FARMERS & OTHER AGRICULTURALISTS TO LEARN ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE. A HIGHLY DEVELOPED COMMITTEE STRUCTURE PROVIDES LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS THROUGH MEETINGS, REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS AND AGRICULTURE ACTIVITIES.


YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ANNUALLY THE DICKSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU REMAINS INVOLVED AS PART OF THE OVERSIGHT OF AGRICULTURE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA. THE EFFORTS INCLUDE OUTREACH TO RURAL SUBURBAN & URBAN YOUTH. THE DICKSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU ASSISTS IN MANNING & FUNDING AN AG FIELD DAY WHERE 4TH GRADE STUDENTS GET TO SEE HOW IMPORTANT AG IS TO EVERYDAY LIFE AND TO EDUCATE THEM ON WHERE THEIR FOOD AND FIBER COMES FROM. THE DICKSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU SPONSORS THE 4-H JR STEER SHOW AND THE POSTER AND ESSAY CONTEST AND DONATES TO TEH COUNTY FFA CHAPTERS. DICKSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU ALSO GIVES 2 AGRICULTURE SCHLORSHIPS TO STUDENTS WHO ARE PURSUING AGRICULTURE DEGREES.
