Part 3 - Line 4a

WE ARE PROUD TO BE OAKLAND ROOTED AND OAKLAND GROWN. WHEN WE BEGAN IN 1975, WE GREW OUT OF COMMUNITY ACTIVISM TAKING PLACE TO ADDRESS THE DISPLACEMENT AND DISRUPTION THREATENING OAKLAND'S CHINATOWN AT THAT TIME. WE HELP STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY FABRIC SO PEOPLE CAN CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER AND GROW TOGETHER. WE PARTNER WITH RESIDENTS AND LOCAL LEADERS TO CO-CREATE NEIGHBORHOOD SOLUTIONS SO EVERYONE PLAYS A ROLE IN SHAPING OUR FUTURE. WE ALSO PRESERVE HOUSING THAT IS CURRENTLY AFFORDABLE AND STABILIZE EXISTING RENTS TO PREVENT LARGE RENT INCREASES SO THAT RESIDENTS CAN REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES. TO DATE, WE HAVE PRESERVED 257 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING, DEVELOPED OVER 2,200 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN OAKLAND AND ACROSS THE EAST BAY, AND SERVED MORE THAN 6,000 PEOPLE ANNUALLY THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS AND INDIVIDUALS.
