THE MISSION OF COMMUNITY SPOKE IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL OTTAWA COUNTY RESIDENTS THROUGH A STRATEGIC, COORDINATED, AND SYSTEMIC RESPONSE TO HUMAN SERVICES NEEDS. SOME OF THE BROADER HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICE FOCUS AREAS INCLUDE POVERTY, HOUSING, FOOD INSECURITY, MENTAL HEALTH, GENERAL HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.

OTTAWA COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES COORDINATING COUNCIL: COMMUNITY SPOKE REGULARLY CONVENED A GROUP OF 45+ LEADERS IN THE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SPACE IN OTTAWA COUNTY TO DISCUSS COMMUNITY NEEDS, AVOID DUPLICATION IN SERVICES, AND LOOK FOR WAYS TO COLLABORATE.


EMPLOYMENT LEASING AGREEMENT WITH A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION TO ENHANCE EACH OF THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSIONS.


COVID-19 VACCINE SUPPORT: COMMUNITY SPOKE SUPPORTED THE LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT WITH THE COVID-19 VACCINE ROLLOUT, SPECIFICALLY HELPING TO GIVE ACCESS TO MARGINALIZED POPULATIONS IN OTTAWA COUNTY (PEOPLE OF COLOR, NON- ENGLISH SPEAKING, HOMELESS, INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, AND OLDER ADULTS). THIS WORK INCLUDED HOSTING POP-UP CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY AND ENGAGING IN A VARIETY OF COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES TO REACH THESE SPECIFIC POPULATIONS.
