THE OAKLAND CHINATOWN CHAMBER FOUNDATION (OCC FOUNDATION) WAS FORMED IN 2003 AS A 501C3 CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION TO ACCEPT DONATIONS TOWARDS PROJECTS THAT WILL BENEFIT THE WELFARE OF BUSINESS ENTITIES AND RESIDENTS IN THE OAKLAND CHINATOWN COMMUNITY THROUGH EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES, AS WELL AS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ENDEAVORS. OCCF FACILITATES THE COLLECTION OF DONATIONS FROM BUSINESSES AND INVIDIDUALS TO BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY IN TIME OF EMERGENCIES AND CASUALTIES.

JASPER WU WAS TWO WHEN HE WAS ASLEEP IN THE BACK OF HIS PARENTS' CAR AND WAS HIT AND DIED FROM A STRAY BULLET. OCCF SET UP A GOFUNDME PAGE TO HELP HIS GRIEVING PARENTS. THE CAMPAIGN RAISED $249,779 FROM INDIVIDUAL DONORS WHO WANTED TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE FAMILY.
