Part 3 - Line 1
PROVIDE GENTLY USED FURNITURE FREE OF CHARGE DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES IN NEED.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE ORGANIZATION HAS ONLY ONE PROGRAM - COLLECTING DONATIONS OF USED FURNITURE AND REDISTRIBUTING IT TO FAMILIES IN NEED IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK. WE WERE OPEN WITH LIMITED OPERATIONS DUE TO STRICT COVID PROTOCOLS IN PLACE DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. INSTEAD OF IN-PERSON CLIENT APPOINTMENTS TO SELECT FURNITURE, VOLUNTEERS CONSULTED WITH THE CLIENTS BY PHONE AND THEN SELECTED FURNITURE FOR THEM, WHICH WAS THEN DELIVERED TO THEIR RESIDENCE. DESPITE VERY DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES, AND WITH MEMBER AGENCIES IN SEVERELY RESTRICTED COVID-MODE, WE WERE STILL ABLE TO FURNISH 228 HOUSEHOLDS IN DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY 2/3 OF OUR PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS, UTILIZING THIS "REMOTE SELECTION" PROCESS. OUR ANNUAL CAMPAIGN AND MOTHER'S DAY BEDS FOR KIDS CAMPAIGN WERE ALSO SUCCESSFUL, WITH THE BENEFIT OF NEW AND ROBUST PR /SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTING. DURING THE CONTINUATION OF PANDEMIC RELATED OPERATION RESTRICTIONS, WE STILL WORKED TO CREATE AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, SUCH AS WITH A LOCAL WOODWORKING GROUP TO HELP REFURBISH FURNITURE, OTHER SERVICE GROUPS TO CREATE "WELCOME HOME" KITS FOR CLIENTS THAT INCLUDED BASIC KITCHEN/HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, A LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO GET DESKS TO STUDENTS IN THEIR HOMES TO HELP WITH REMOTE LEARNING, AND WITH VOLUNTEER GROUPS TO ASSIST WITH WAREHOUSE WORK. WE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE RYE ZERO WASTE DAY COLLECTION DRIVE IN NOVEMBER 2020.
