THE MISSION OF MOMS ORANGE COUNTY IS TO HELP MOTHERS AND THEIR FAMILIES HAVE HEALTHY BABIES BY PROVIDING HEALTH COORDINATION, EDUCATION, AND ACCESS TO COMMUNITY SERVICES.

MOMS ORANGE COUNTY IS A UNIQUELY QUALIFIED ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES SCREENINGS, HEALTH EDUCATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES THROUGH MONTHLY HOME VISITS AND GROUP CLASSES. UNDER NURSE SUPERVISION, WOMEN AND THEIR BABIES RECEIVE ONE-ON-ONE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT DURING PREGNANCY AND THROUGH BABY'S FIRST YEAR. DURING PREGNANCY, THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON MEASURES TO INCREASE THE MOTHER'S CHANCE OF DELIVERING A HEALTHY BABY. AFTER BIRTH, THE FOCUS IS ON PROMOTING THE BABY'S HEALTHY GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND MOTHER'S WELL-BEING. MOMS ORANGE COUNTY SERVED 2,123 LOW-INCOME FAMILIES ANNUALLY IN ORANGE COUNTY. IN FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022, 8,466 HOME VISITS, 625 HEALTH EDUCATION CLASSES AND SUPPORT GROUPS WERE CONDUCTED. IN FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022, MOMS ORANGE COUNTY SERVED 2,123 LOW-INCOME FAMILIES (3,462 INDIVIDUALS). AS A RESULT, AT-RISK MOTHERS ACCESSED PRENATAL CARE, BABIES WERE BORN HEALTHY AND REACHED THEIRDEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES ON TIME, AND FATHERS WERE PREPARED FOR A POSITIVE ROLE IN THE FAMILY. THE ULTIMATE RETURN ON INVESTING IN MOMS ORANGE COUNTY IS THE IMPROVED HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF MOTHERS AND BABIES IN THE MATERNAL-CHILD HEALTH COORDINATION PROGRAM AS EVIDENCEDBY THEIR HEALTH OUTCOMES:- 94% OF HIGH-RISK MOTHERS DID NOT DEVELOP GESTATIONAL DIABETES DURINGTHEIR PREGNANCY- 75% OF BABIES HAD A POSITIVE BIRTH OUTCOME (NO LOW BIRTH WEIGHT,PREMATURE BIRTH OR NICU ADMISSION)- 92% OF BABIES WERE BREASTFED AT DISCHARGE FROM HOSPITAL (41%EXCLUSIVELY BREASTFED)- 95% OF BABIES WERE ON TRACK DEVELOPMENTALLY- 99.5% OF BABIES HAD A MEDICAL HOME- 93% OF BABIES WERE ON TRACK WITH THEIR IMMUNIZATIONS
