NEAR EASTERN AFFAIRS ASSISTANCE COORDINATION OFFICE: TAVAANATECH: A FREE, SAFE INTERNET AS #IRANPROTESTS: THE PROJECT UNDER THIS GRANT AIMS TO POSITION TECHNOLOGY FOR DEMOCRACY AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN IRAN. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE: - DISTRIBUTED TO IRANIAN SOCIETY AT LARGE RELIABLE CIRCUMVENTION TOOLS, TOGETHER WITH PUBLIC TRAINING AND INDIVIDUALIZED TECH SUPPORT SERVICES ON HOW TO USE THEM; - CROWD SOURCED DIGITAL THREATS AND MASS DISTRIBUTED DIGITAL SAFETY ALERTS AND SOLUTIONS TO THE IRANIAN PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY AT PEAK MOBILIZATION TIMES, AND PROVIDED INDIVIDUALIZED EMERGENCY AND ROUTINE SAFETY SUPPORT, INCLUDING TO TARGETED COHORTS OF CIVIC LEADERS.


U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE/DRL: DEMOCRATIC EDUCATION FOR A DEMOCRATIC IRANTHE PROJECT UNDER THIS GRANT AIMS TO LIBERALIZE AND MAKE INCLUSIVE EDUCATION TO HELP REVERSE THE MARGINALIZATION OF LARGE SWATHS OF SOCIETY.PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE: - IMPROVED THE ABILITY OF TEACHERS TO INTEGRATE ALTERNATIVE, PARTICIPATORY PEDAGOGIC TECHNIQUES INTO THEIR CLASSROOMS TO DEMOCRATIZE LEARNING FOR THEIR STUDENTS. - PROMOTED ADVOCACY FOR REFORM OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM AND OFFICIAL SCHOOL CURRICULA TO ACHIEVE GENDER EQUALITY, MINORITY RIGHTS, ACCESS AND EMPOWERMENT FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, CRITICAL THINKING, AND MORE. - INCREASED THE SOCIAL ESTEEM AND SUPPORT FOR THE VALUE OF EDUCATION AND EDUCATORS.- EDUCATED AND TRAINED IRANIAN STUDENTS AND ACTIVISTS IN DEMOCRACY BUILDING TECHNIQUES, TO PROMOTE DEMOCRATIC REFORMS IN THE IRANIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM AND BEYOND.


U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE/NEA: TAVAANA: EMPOWERING POLITICAL PRISONERS:THE PROJECT UNDER THIS GRANT AIMS TO STRENGTHEN IRANIAN HUMAN RIGHTS MOVEMENTS, THROUGH GREATER ADVOCACY CAPACITY, PUBLIC AWARENESS AND MOBILIZATION IN SUPPORT OF POLITICAL PRISONERS IN IRAN. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE:- INCREASED PUBLIC AWARENESS AROUND POLITICAL PRISONERS, THEIR CONDITIONS AND STRUGGLES IN IRAN.- INCREASED ADVOCACY CAPACITY; ONGOING TRAINING FOR POLITICAL ACTIVISTS IN IRAN TO EFFECTIVELY AND SAFELY ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF POLITICAL PRISONERS.- CREATED OPEN FORUMS FOR FORMER POLITICAL PRISONERS AND HIGH-PROFILE ACTIVISTS TO TALK ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP, REPRISALS, HARASSMENT, AND IMPRISONMENT.
