THE PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO ADVANCE THE PROFESSION OF DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY BY DEVELOPING EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM AND PROGRAMS THAT WILL BE RELEVANT AND ACCESSIBLE TO DENTAL TECHNICIANS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE DENTAL TEAM.

GRANTS - THE MARK JACKSON MEMORIAL EDUCATION GRANT PROVIDES DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS WITH FUNDS TO HELP THEM FURTHER THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS RELATED TO HIGHER LEVEL DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF MARK JACKSON MEMORIAL EDUCATION GRANT AWARDED IN 2023 WAS $5,000. THE SCDL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE EDUCATION GRANT AWARDS UP TO TWO INDIVIDUALS $2,500 TO SUPPLEMENT EXPENSES RELATED TO BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CONTINUING EDUCATION THE RECIPIENTS WISH TO ATTEND (I.E., NADL UNIVERSITY, CHAMBER COURSES, FINANCE COURSES, ETC.) $5,000 IN SCDL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE EDUCATION GRANTS WERE AWARDED DURING 2023. THE SCDL COMPONENT BUSINESS EDUCATION GRANT AWARDS ONE RECIPIENT $2,000 FOR STATE AND REGIONAL DENTAL LABORATORY ASSOCIATIONS TO HELP FUND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CONTINUING EDUCATION OFFERINGS (I.E., SPEAKER FOR ANNUAL MEETING). THE CDT HARDSHIP GRANT IS TO ASSIST CDTS EXPERIENCING A HARDSHIP WITH THEIR ANNUAL CDT RENEWAL FEE OF $170. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF CDT HARDSHIP GRANTS AWARDED IN 2023 WAS $775. THE FOUNDATION LAUNCHED THE NADL UNIVERSITY GRANT, WHICH COVERED TUITION FOR TWO INDIVIDUALS TO ATTEND THE 2023 NADL UNIVERSITY, A TWO-DAY INTENSIVE COURSE ON PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT EDUCATION. THE TOTAL AMOUNT AWARDED WAS $2,990. IN 2023, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED THE NATIONAL BOARD FOR CERTIFICATION IN DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (NBC) A MONETARY GRANT TOTALLY $10,000 TO SUPPORT THE NEW CERTIFIED DENTAL TECHNICIAN (CDT) SPECIALTY IN DIGITAL WORKFLOW. ADDITIONALLY, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DENTAL LABORATORIES (NADL) A MONETARY GRANT TOTALING $10,000 TO SUPPORT THEIR OCCUPATIONAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF VISION 21 GRANTS AWARDED IN 2023 WAS $3,360. THE NADL LEADERSHIP GRANT AWARDED A TOTAL OF $2,255 OF GRANTS IN 2023.
SCHOLARSHIPS - THE CDT PILLAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS FUNDS TO HELP DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS PURSUE THE CERTIFIED DENTAL TECHNICIAN DESIGNATION BY COVERING THE TESTING AND APPLICATION FEES. CDT PILLAR SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED DURING 2023 TOTALED $61,660; THE 2023 SCHOLARSHIP COST WAS OFFSET BY UNUSED FUNDS OF $13,895 FROM 2021. THE RG PILLAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS FUNDS TO HELP DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS PURSUE THE RECOGNIZED GRADUATE DESIGNATION BY COVERING THE TESTING AND APPLICATION FEES. RG PILLAR SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED DURING 2023 TOTALED $6,710; THE 2023 SCHOLARSHIP COST WAS OFFSET BY UNUSED FUNDS OF $1,275 FROM 2021.
