CONSTRUCTION, REHABILITATION, AND SALE OF HOMES TO QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES; HOMEOWNERSHIP TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR; NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION THROUGH RESIDENTIAL REPAIRS, PLACEMAKING AND OUTREACH. IN 2021 SJCS SOLD 4 HOMES TO LOCAL FAMILIES, RECLAIMING ABANDONED HOMES AND REHABBING THEM UP TO CODE. SJCS IS A HUD CERTIFIED COUNSELING AGENCY. 135 PEOPLE GRADUATED FROM ACADEMY CLASSES AND 270 PEOPLE WERE ENGAGED IN FINANCIAL COUNSELING. SJCS ALSO WORKED WITH 43 EXISTING HOMEOWNERS TO STABILIZE THEIR HOMES THROUGH A SMALL REPAIR PROGRAM AND 25 HOMEOWNERS TO ACHIEVE A LEAD-SAFE HOME THROUGH REMEDIATION AND 2 THROUGH ABATEMENT. SJCS WORKED WITH A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER ON 2 FACADE IMPROVEMENTS. SJCS OWNED AND MANAGED 87 RENTAL PROPERTIES, DISTRIBUTED $85,000 IN RENTAL ASSISTANCE, AND HELPED COVID-IMPACTED TENANTS RECEIVE ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. SJCS ALSO WORKED WITH STAKEHOLDERS ON COMMUNITY RELATED ENGAGEMENT INCLUDING A NEW NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN, 2 MURALS, AND 3 RESIDENT-DRIVEN NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION AND CLEAN-UP PROJECTS.
