THE ORGANIZATION IS AN INDEPENDENT STATEWIDE STUDENT ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS ON ISSUES RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, CONSUMER PROTECTION, AND HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS. WE MOBILIZE STUDENTS TO INVESTIGATE BIG SOCIAL PROBLEMS, COME UP WITH PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS, CONVINCE THE MEDIA AND PUBLIC TO PAY ATTENTION, AND GET DECISION-MAKERS TO ACT.

Part 3 - Line 4a

CAMPUS PROGRAM: THIS PROJECT IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS ON OVER 20 COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN MASSACHUSETTS. STUDENTS ENGAGE IN VARIOUS RESEARCH, ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS RELATED TO CONSUMER, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND ENERGY ISSUES. STAFF MEMBERS ON THE VARIOUS CAMPUSES HELP TRAIN STUDENTS AND FACILITATE THE STUDENT PROJECTS. THESE PROJECTS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO OVER 100,000 STUDENTS.


GENERAL PROGRAM ACTIVITY: THIS PROJECT INVOLVES GENERAL RESEARCH, ADVOCACY, EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND STUDENT LOBBYING ON THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: CONSUMER PROTECTION, TOXICS AND TOXIC USE REDUCTION, CLEAN AIR, CLEAN WATER, SOLID WASTE, RECYCLING AND PACKAGING, HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS, AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION.
