REC'S FOOD JUSTICE PROGRAMS (FJ) EMPOWER COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ACCESS HEALTHY, AFFORDABLE, CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE, LOCAL FOOD IN LOW-INCOME AND FOOD-INSECURE WORCESTER NEIGHBORHOODS VIA: UGROW, AN URBAN GARDEN PROGRAM INVOLVING 500 GARDENERS AND FARMERS AND 2,000 WORCESTER PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS AT 60+ COMMUNITY & SCHOOL GARDENS AND URBAN FARMS; YOUTHGROW, A YEAR-ROUND YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR UNDERSERVED LOW-INCOME TEENAGERS ON 2 URBAN FARMS; REC COMMUNITY FARMERS MARKETS, BRINGING AFFORDABLE, HEALTHY,CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE, LOCAL FOOD TO 15 LOCATIONS 6 DAYS EACH WEEK JUNE THROUGH OCTOBER AND 5 LOCATIONS 3 DAYS EACH WEEK NOVEMBER TO MAY.
