THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED ITS TAX DEDUCTIBLE STATUS IN MID-1996 AND FUNCTIONS BOTH AS A PRODUCTION ENTITY AND A FISCAL AGENT.

WE CALLED FOR LETTERS AND CALLS TO CALFIRE DEMANDING THAT THE AGENCY IMPOSE A MORATORIUM ON ALL LOGGING AT JACKSON DEMONSTRATION STATE FOREST UNTIL A NEW MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE FOREST IS WRITTEN. ADVOCACY FOR ECOLOGICALLY SOUND FEDERAL RULES TO SAFEGUARD MATURE AND OLD-GROWTH FORESTS IN THE WAKE OF PRESIDENT BIDEN'S EXECUTIVE ORDER 14072. WE ALSO GENERATED CALLS AND LETTERS TO FEDERAL OFFICIALS URGING STRENGTHENING OF THE DRAFT RULES AFTER THEY WERE UNVEILED. WE CALLED FOR CITIZEN COMMUNICATIONS IN OPPOSITION TO THE SO-CALLED "SAVE OUR SEQUOIAS ACT" (H.R. 8168), WHICH WOULD HAVE WEAKENED FOREST-PROTECTION LAWS. ORGANIZED CALLS TO THE NAPA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS URGING THEM TO USE THE COUNTY'S CLIMATE-PROTECTIVE POLICIES AND INSTRUMENTS TO PREVENT DESTRUCTION OF OAK WOODLANDS AND WATERSHEDS.
