THE MISSION OF THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION IS TO IMPROVE LIVES THROUGH LEADERSHIP IN THE PREVENTION, CONTROL AND CURE OF ARTHRITIS AND RELATED DISEASES.

PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATION REPRESENTS PROGRAMS CONDUCTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF INFORMING THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON ALL ASPECTS OF ARTHRITIS, INCLUDING INFORMATION REGARDING AWARENESS OF THE DISEASE, ELIMINATING MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ARTHRITIS, ADVISING OF THE BENEFITS OF EARLY DETECTION, INTERVENTION AND TREATMENT, AND MAINTAINING APPROPRIATE HEALTH BEHAVIORS. EXAMPLES INCLUDE MUCH OF THE ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH ARTHRITIS TODAY OR ADVOCACY.


PATIENT AND COMMUNITY SERVICES REPRESENT ACTIVITIES PERFORMED OR PROGRAMS CONDUCTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, OR OTHER ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS AFFECTED BY ARTHRITIS OR TO THEIR FAMILIES. EXAMPLES INCLUDE LIFE IMPROVEMENT SERIES, PROGRAMS, AND JA CAMPS AND JA ACTIVITIES.


RESEARCH REPRESENTS AWARDS OR GRANTS TO SUPPORT SCIENTIFIC STUDIES OR INVESTIGATIONS, PLUS ALL OTHER COSTS OR EXPENSES INCURRED WHILE CONDUCTING PROGRAMS IN WHICH NEW KNOWLEDGE IS BEING SOUGHT TO FIND CAUSES, CURES, AND PREVENTIONS OF ARTHRITIS DISEASES AND HEALTH PROBLEMS. EXAMPLES INCLUDE REVIEWING AND AWARDING ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION GRANTS, AND MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RESEARCH COMMUNITY.
