THE LEAGUE TO SAVE LAKE TAHOE PROTECTS AND RESTORES THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, SUSTAINABILITY AND SCENIC BEAUTY OF THE LAKE TAHOE BASIN. WE FOCUS ON WATER QUALITY AND ITS CLARITY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF A PRISTINE LAKE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

IN 2021, THE LEAGUES WORK CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON THREE MAIN CAMPAIGNS: COMBAT POLLUTION, ADVANCE RESTORATION, AND TACKLE INVASIVE SPECIES. THESE CAMPAIGNS AND PROGRAMMATIC EFFORTS WITHIN ARE EXECUTED THROUGH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND COLLABORATION


ADVANCE RESTORATION:IN 2021, EXTREME WILDFIRES SHROUDED TAHOE IN SMOKE AND ASH FOR MONTHS AND SCORCHED 10,000 ACRES INSIDE THE TAHOE BASININ RESPONSE, THE LEAGUE LED A GROUP KNOWN AS THE CALIFORNIA TAHOE ALLIANCE TO LOBBY IN SACRAMENTO FOR WILDFIRE PREVENTION SUPPORT. THROUGH OUR WORK, $36 MILLION IS HEADING TO THE CALIFORNIA TAHOE CONSERVANCY TO PROMOTE FOREST HEALTH AND REDUCE WILDFIRE RISK TO LAKE TAHOE. THE LEAGUE ALSO ADVOCATED SUCCESSFULLY TO UPDATE A POLICY THAT NOW ALLOWS ACCELERATED FOREST THINNING ON STEEP SLOPES WITHIN THE TAHOE BASIN


COMBAT POLLUTION:THE LEAGUE FUNDED A LAKE-FRIENDLY TRANSPORTATION PILOT PROJECT ON THE NORTH SHORE TO PROVIDE CONSISTENT AND REGULAR SERVICE DURING THE FALL SHOULDER SEASON. THE PROJECT BUILDS OFF THE LEAGUES 2018 INTRODUCTION OF THE APP-BASED MICROTRANSIT CONCEPT TO TAHOE. OUR BACKING OF THE PILOT COMBINED WITH ADVOCACY WORK THAT WILL BRING OTHER MICROTRANSIT SERVICE TO TAHOE- ENSURES THIS ALTERNATIVE TO PRIVATE CAR TRAVEL WILL EXIST BASIN-WIDE.
