THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN PROVIDING SUBSTANTIAL FUNDING FOR BUILDING AND SUPPLYING A SURGERY CENTER IN SABALOS, NICARAGUA, SERVING A COMMUNITY WITH LIMITED OR NO ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE. THE PROJECT IS MANAGED BY MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION WITH PRIMARY FUNDING HANDLED BY THE SANTA ROSA SUNRISE ROTARY FOUNDATION.
NORTHERN CA ENDURED A DEVASTATING FIRE IN OCTOBER 2017. THE ORGANIZATION RAISED FUNDS TO BE USED FOR FIRE RELIEF, PRIMARILY BY PROVIDING GRANTS TO SMALL BUSINESSES. ROTARY MEMBERS INTERVIEWED FIRE VICTIMS AND MADE GRANTS UP TO $5,000 EACH FOR SUCH THINGS AS REPLACING LOST EQUIPMENT, REFRIGERATION, TOOLS AND SUPPLIES. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED AN OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT FOR THE FIRE TRAGEDY IN THE AREA, INCLUDING DONATIONS FROM ROTARY CLUBS IN JAPAN, OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN JAPAN, AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE LOCAL AREA. THE ORGANIZATION COMBINED FUNDS RECEIVED AND TRANSFERRED THE FUNDS TO THE ROTARY DISTRICT 5130 WHO OVERSAW THE OVERALL DISBURSEMENT OF THE FUNDS.
THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS VARIOUS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS WITH SMALL GRANTS FOR SUMMER CAMPS, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, SERVICE ANIMAL SUPPORT, SAFEGUARDING OPEN SPACE, GARDEN CULTIVATION, SENIOR ACTIVITIES, CLOTHING AND SUPPORT OF CHILDREN, MATERIALS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN, ROTARY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM, AND MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS.
