CONNECTING BODY AND MIND TO TRANSFORM LIVES THROUGH DANCE. THE CREATIVE DANCE CENTER, FOUNDED IN 1981, IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION PROVIDING DANCE EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES.

CDC PROGRAM: THE CREATIVE DANCE CENTER IS KNOWN LOCALLY, NATIONALLY, AND INTERNATIONALLY FOR INNOVATIVE TEACHING METHODS AND THE BRAINDANCE. IN JULY 2021, CREATIVE DANCE CENTER RETURNED TO IN PERSON PROGRAMMING WHILE STILL OFFERING SOME CLASSES ONLINE. PROGRAMMING INCLUDED NURTURING BABY, CAREGIVER/TODDLER, CAREGIVER/CHILD, FAMILY DANCE, EARLY CHILDHOOD, CHILDREN AND TEEN, AND ADULT CLASSES, INCLUDING CLASSES FOR SENIORS. SUMMER CAMPS FOR AGES FOUR TO TEN INCLUDED GLOBAL DANCE, HIP HOP, MUSICAL THEATRE, ART IN NATURE, BALLET STORIES, AND ART IN MOTION. SUMMER PROGRAMMING FOR TEENS AND ADULTS INCLUDED A TEEN INTENSIVE AND HIP HOP & STORYTELLING WORKSHOP. CLASSES FOR DIVERSE POPULATIONS INCLUDED INCLUSIVE HIP HOP FOR TWEENS/TEENS AND VIRTUAL ADAPTIVE DANCE FOR ALL ABILITIES AND DISABILITES. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.....


KALEIDOSCOPE DANCE COMPANY IS CREATIVE DANCE CENTERS RESIDENT MODERN DANCE COMPANY OF YOUTH AGES 8-17. FOR THE 2021-2022 SEASON, THIRTY-TWO CHILDREN AND TEENS WERE COMPANY MEMBERS. THE GIFT OF DANCE CONCERT FEATURING ORIGINAL CHOREOGRAPHY BY KALEIDOSCOPE DANCERS WAS PRESENTED LIVE AND IN PERSON FOR TWO SOLD OUT PERFORMANCES (300 IN ATTENDANCE) AT THE ERICKSON THEATER IN SEATTLE ON DECEMBER 4 AND 5, 2021. KALEIDOSCOPE WAS FEATURED IN SEATTLE CENTERS VIRTUAL STUDENT SHOWCASE, DECEMBER 2021, ZOOM ART WITH (G)LOVE, CHOREOGRAPHED BY ARTISTIC DIRECTOR ANNA MANSBRIDGE AND THE DANCERS. CONNECTING ACROSS COUNTRIES AND CULTURES: A VIRTUAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN KHULCHA THEATRE SCHOOL OF DANCE, JAMAICA, AND KALEIDOSCOPE DANCE COMPANY, TOOK PLACE IN FEBRUARY 2022 AND CULMINATED IN A DANCE FILM FEATURING BOTH COMPANIES. THE ANNUAL SUMMER DANCE INSTITUTE FOR TEACHERS OFFERS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PERSONAL GROWTH FOR EDUCATORS, DANCE TEACHERS, ARTS SPECIALISTS, THERAPISTS, AND MORE. THIS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY PROVIDES IMMERSION IN THE TEACHING METHODS DEVELOPED BY CDC FOUNDER, ANNE GREEN GILBERT. THESE TEACHING METHODS ARE KNOWN AS BRAIN-COMPATIBLE DANCE EDUCATION. IN 2021 PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL OVER THE US AND WORLD TOOK PART IN OUR VIRTUAL SUMMER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. TWELVE PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED OUR REFRESHER COURSE - FOR THOSE WITH PAST EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE IN BRAIN-COMPATIBLE DANCE EDUCATION.
