TO PROVIDE AN ANNUAL SOUTHERN REGIONAL QUALIFYING OIREACHTAS COMPETITION (SRQOC). THE SRQOC IS A COMPETITION TO QUALIFY SOUTHERN REGIONS DANCERS TO COMPETE IN THE WORLD IRISH DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS (WIDC) AND THE NORTH AMERICAN IRISH DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS (NAIDC). THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CONDUCTED BY THE SOUTHERN REGION SINCE 1996. THE SOUTHERN REGION CONSISTS OF DANCERS RESIDENT IN THE AREA SOUTH OF A LINE FROM KANSAS/OKLAHOMA BOARDER, BELOW KENTUCKY AND PENNSYLVANIA (EXCEPT DELAWARE), EAST OF NEW MEXICO, AND INCLUDING THE COUNTRY OF MEXICO.


TO PROMOTE IRISH DANCING AND IRISH DANCING COMPETITIONS. THE SOUTHERN REGION MANAGES A SCHEDULE OF COMPETITIONS (FEISEANNA). THE SOUTHERN REGION COLLECTS REGISTRATION FEE FOR EACH AND PAYS A PORTION OF THE REGISTRATION FEE TO THE COMMISSION OF IRISH DANCERS.


THE SOUTHERN REGION AWARDS 26 TRAVEL ALLOWANCE STIPENDS TO DANCERS AND A TEAM OF DANCERS TO HELP THEM PAY FOR THEIR TRAVEL EXPENSES TO COMPETE IN THE WORLD IRISH DANCING CHAMPSIONSHIP AND REIMBURSE THE EXPENSES FOR 2 DANCERS TO APPEAR IN A VIDEO-TAPED PRESENTATION (AN RE ORGA) CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY WORLD DANCING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
