TO PROVIDE PRECISE STATE OF THE ART RADIATION ONCOLOGY PHYSICS SERVICES TO CANCER PATIENTS AND TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO NEW PHYSICISTS IN THE FIELD AS WELL AS PROMOTING MEDICAL PHYSICS TO THE COMMUNITY.

THE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY CONTRACTED FOR 12 TO 60-MONTH PERIODS TO 37 VARIOUS HOSPITALS AND CLINICS IN WASHINGTON, ALASKA, OREGON, HAWAII, AND GUAM. THESE CONTRACTS ARE TO PROVIDE RADIATION ONCOLOGY PHYSICS SERVICES FOR THEIR PATIENTS. THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM SUPPORTS A MEDICAL PHYSICS RESIDENT, AN APPLIED PHYSICS TECHNOLOGIST, AND 2 SUMMER INTERNS. ADDITIONALLY, OUTREACH TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO PROMOTE MEDICAL PHYSICS AS A CAREER OPTION, AS WELL AS TEACHING A COURSE IN MEDICAL PHYSICS AT CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY (ELLENSBURG WA). AS OF FEBRUARY 2022, THE PROGRAM EMPLOYS 44 PHYSICISTS, 1 DOSIMETRIST, 1 RESIDENT, 1 APPLIED PHYSICS TECHNOLOGIST, 2 SUMMER INTERNS, AND 1 ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF."
