DC PEACE ACADEMY: THIS IS A CLASSROOM-BASED TRAINING PROGRAM FOR DC'S VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROFESSIONALS. IT INCLUDES APPROXIMATELY 120 HOURS OF CLASSROOM LEARNING ON TOPICS SUCH AS CONFLICT RESOLUTION, RESTORATIVE JUSCTICE, HOW TO USE A TOURNIQUET, HOW TO USE NARCAN, COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THEORY, HOW TO BE A LIFE COACH, HEALTHY MASCULINITY AND FEMININITY, WORKING WITH FAMILIES, ETC. STUDENTS MEET WITH LIFE COACHES AND LICENSED THERAPISTS TO FURTHER BOTH THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVES: THESE INCLUDE SMALLER PROGRAMS SUCH AS STOP THE BLEED WORKSHOPS AND CBT WORKSHOPS, WHICH ARE HOSTED TO TEACH LIFE-SAVING SKILLS AND SKILLS FOR HEALING TRAUMA AND BEHAVIOR CHANGE TO THE INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES WHO ARE MOST IMPACTED BY COMMUNITY VIOLENCE.
PARTNERSHIPS: PARTNERSHIPS IS OUR WORK TO BUILD COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION AMONG KEY STAKEHOLDERS - INCLUDING GOVERNMENT, NONPROFITS, COMMUNITY, FAITH, BUSINESS, AND PHILANTHROPY. OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS AT THE FOREFRONT OF DC'S VIOLENCE INTERVENTION EFFORTS IS CRITICAL. ALSO KEY IS THE CIVIC COALITION OF BUSINESS AND PHILANTHROPIC LEADERS THAT WE ARE WORKING TO BUILD.
