THE SPRINGFIELD DAILY CITIZEN IS A NONPROFIT, NONPARTISAN AND INDEPENDENT ONLINE NEWS OUTLET SERVING SPRINGFIELD (MO) AND GREENE COUNTY. IN 2021, THE DAILY CITIZEN WAS IN ITS FORMATIVE STAGE, AND LAUNCHED ITS OFFICIAL WEBSITE ON FEB. 14, 2022. THE GOAL IS TO INFORM THE COMMUNITY THROUGH COVERAGE OF QUALITY-OF-LIFE ISSUES, WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS ON IN-DEPTH NEWS REPORTS THAT HAVE BEEN LARGELY ABANDONED BY FOR-PROFIT MEDIA IN THE COMMUNITY. BEYOND NEWS AND FEATURE COVERAGE, THE DAILY CITIZEN WILL ENGAGE THE PUBLIC IN CONVERSATION, ENCOURAGE SUPPORT FOR DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES, AND SEEK TO BE A CATALYST FOR GOOD IN THE COMMUNITY.
