Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

RETAIL AND GALLERY SPACE - ARTE NOIR CELEBRATED ITS FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION IN THE PHYSICAL SPACE AT 23RD AND UNION. THE RETAIL SPACE GREW TO INCLUDE A GALLERY SPACE FEATURING ROTATING EXHIBITS OF ARTISTS' WORKS. THE ORGANIZATION BUILT OUT ITS STAFF CAPACITY, EXPANDED ITS REGULAR PRODUCT OFFERINGS AND FURTHERED ARTIST COLLABORATIONS WITH A NUMBER OF LOCAL MAKERS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS IN THE ARTE NOIR SPACE.

SQUARE PROGRAMMING - OFFICIAL PROGRAMMING OF THE PUBLIC SQUARE AT MIDTOWN KICKED OFF IN 2023 WITH SMALL ACTIVATIONS CONNECTED TO INSTALLATIONS AT ARTE NOIR, AND WE LAUNCHED OUR FIRST YEAR OF OUR "SUMMER IN THE SQUARE" SERIES OF ACTIVITIES AND WORKSHOPS IN JUNE. THE SERIES INCLUDED FREE DANCE AND WORKOUT CLASSES, DOUBLE DUTCH, AND DJ PARTIES. WE ALSO CONTINUED OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE ECODISTRICT AND WA NA WARI, HOSTING THE ANNUAL JUNETEENTH REVIVAL VENDOR MARKET AND PARTICIPATED AS AN OFFICIAL WALK THE BLOCK STOP, WITH ART AND MUSIC SHOWCASES AND ACTIVITIES.

OTHER PROGRAMMING - THE PUBLICATION DISTRIBUTION BASE DOUBLED DURING THIS PERIOD FROM LESS THAN 1,000 TO OVER 2,000, WITH READERS LOGGING IN FROM 12 COUNTRIES. GRANTS ALLOWED US TO BEGIN THE PLANNING FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE BLACK ARTIST ROSTER INITIATIVE, AND FOR INCREASING WRITER REPRESENTATION. THIS TIME ALSO SAW THE ORGANIZATION TAKE CRITICAL STEPS TO OWNERSHIP OF THE PHYSICAL SPACE AND PREPARE FOR FUTURE CONSTRUCTION TO EXPAND COMMUNITY OFFERINGS.
