NATIVE ARTS AND CULTURES FOUNDATION ADVANCES EQUITY AND CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE, FOCUSING ON THE POWER OF ARTS AND COLLABORATION TO STRENGTHEN NATIVE COMMUNITIES AND PROMOTE POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE WITH AMERICAN INDIAN, NATIVE HAWAIIAN,AND ALASKA NATIVE PEOPLES IN THE US.

THE SHIFT - TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE AND INDIGENOUS ARTS PROGRAM SUPPORTS ARTIST AND COMMUNITY-DRIVEN PROJECTS RESPONDING TO SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL OR ECONOMIC JUSTICE ISSUES THROUGH A NATIVE LENS. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON EFFORTS THAT ARE BUILT UPON COMMUNITY CULTURAL ASSETS, RESILIENCE AND STRENGTHS AND DRAW INCREASED ATTENTION TO NATIVE COMMUNITIES, PERSPECTIVES AND CHALLENGES, SHIFTING A NATIONAL NARRATIVE OF INVISIBILITY, MISUNDERSTANDING AND MISAPPROPRIATION. SHIFT PROVIDES INVALUABLE RESOURCES FOR PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCTION AND PRESENTATION FOR THE ARTISTS AND THEIR COLLABORATORS.


LIFT - EARLY CAREER SUPPORT FOR NATIVE ARTISTS PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE INVALUABLE SUPPORT TO EARLY CAREER NATIVE ARTISTS WITH ONE-YEAR AWARDS TO DEVELOP AND REALIZE NEW PROJECTS. SUPPORT FOR BURGEONING ARTISTS IS CRITICAL IN DEVELOPING FRESH VOICES AND ENVISIONING THE FUTURE OF OUR RESPECTIVE NATIVE PRACTICES. LIFT ENCOURAGES ARTISTS TO UPLIFT COMMUNITIES, ADVANCE POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE, POINT COURAGEOUSLY TOWARD ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, AND FOSTER COMMUNAL MEANING MAKING.


THE NACF OREGON NATIVE ARTIST FELLOWSHIP (ONAF),ALLOWS FOR A NATIVE VISUAL ARTIST TO PRODUCE WORK OVER THE COURSE OF ONE YEAR TO ADDRESS ISSUES IMPACTING THEIR COMMUNITY. ONAF RESPONDS TO THESE CHALLENGES BY OFFERING FINANCIAL, EVALUATION, DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT TO THE ARTIST'S PROJECT RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION, EQUITY AND CULTURAL EMPOWERMENT. IN THE CURRENT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL POLITICAL CLIMATE, THERE ARE CALLS FROM ALL CORNERS FOR MORE DIRECT ACTION TO ADDRESS THE SERIOUS ISSUES THAT AFFECT THE LIVES OF NATIVE PEOPLES IN THEIR RESPECTIVE NATIONS. THROUGH THE GREATER MOBILIZATION OF NATIVE ARTISTIC VOICES IN OREGON, THE ONAF SEEKS TO CONTRIBUTE TO DELIBERATION AND PROBLEM SOLVING AROUND THESE CHALLENGES.
