TO PROMOTE THE INTERESTS OF BUILDING CONTRACTORS THAT HAVE A SPECIFIC (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) INTEREST IN THE INSTALLATION OF FIRESTOP MATERIALS AND SYSTEMS;TO ENCOURAGE AND FACILITATE THE DISCUSSION AND STUDY OF FIRESTOP CONTRACTOR PROBLEMS AND ISSUES;TO RESEARCH, INVESTIGATE, AND ASSIST IN THE ADVANCEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTS, MATERIALS, AND PROCESSES WHICH PROMOTE FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY;TO PROMOTE ETHICAL AND LAWFUL BUSINESS PRACTICES WITHIN THE FIRESTOP CONTRACTOR INDUSTRY; ANDTO ENCOURAGE THE USE OF FCIA CONTRACTORS AS THE PRIMARY SOURCE FOR FIRESTOPPING IN NEW CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION PROJECTS, WORLDWIDE.

FCIA CONFERENCES:FCIA HOLDS SEVERAL INDUSTRY CONFERENCES EACH YEAR. THE "FCIA EDUCATION AND COMMITTEE ACTION CONFERENCE" IS HELD ANNUALLY. THIS PROGRAM GIVES FCIA COMMITTEES A CHANCE TO MEET FACE TO FACE, ALLOWING GROUPS TO PRODUCE VARIOUS PROGRAMS TO BENEFIT FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY THROUGH FIRESTOPPING. EDUCATION PROGRAMS ON CODES, SPECIFICATIONS, INSURANCE, NEW TRENDS, HIGH PROFILE PROJECTS, LEGAL AND OTHER TOPICS ARE PART OF THE CONFERENCE. THE "FCIA FIRESTOP INDUSTRY CONFERENCE" FEATURES SIMILAR EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AN INDUSTRY TRADE SHOW, AND SMALL GROUP PRESENTATIONS ON FOCUSED TOPICS.


CODE COMMITTEE:WORKS WITH VARIOUS INFLUENCES IMPORTANT TO THE FIRESTOP INDUSTRY TO MONITOR THE REQUIRED USE OF FIRESTOPPING IN THE MODEL BUILDING CODES, PROVIDE PROPOSALS WHEN NECESSARY, AND TESTIFY AT CODE HEARINGS TO PROMOTE FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY IN THE INDUSTRY.STANDARDS COMMITTEE:WORKS WITH ASTM AND OTHER GROUPS ON VARIOUS STANDARDS WRITING ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE QUALITY INSTALLATION PROCESSES THAT PROTECT FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY.


TECHNICAL COMMITTEE:AUTHORED THE FCIA'S "MANUAL OF PRACTICE" (MOP), THE FIRESTOPPINIG INDUSTRY'S REFERENCE DOCUMENT, AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS MAINTENANCE EDITING. ADDITIONALLY, THIS COMMITTEE WRITES AND MAINTAINS TECHNICAL NEWS BULLETINS THAT MAY BE PUBLISHED FROM TIME TO TIME ON VARIOUS TOPICS IMPORTANT TO FCIA MEMBERSHIP AND FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY.
