NEW ROOTS: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY FOR BEGINNING/EMERGING FARMERS TO HAVE ACCESS TO LAND, PRODUCT LIABILITY INSURANCE THROUGH AN UMBRELLA POLICY FOR THE FARM INCUBATOR, AND BUSINESS PLANNING AND TECHNICAL TRAINING TO ASSIST THEM IN THEIR EFFORTS TO START A SMALL FARM ENTERPRISE.


SMALL FARM FOLK SCHOOL: THIS PROGRAM IN 2023 PROVIDED FOLK EDUCATION AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2 INTERNS. THE TRAINING CENTERED AROUND BIODYNAMIC FARMING AND GARDENING; MENTAL HEALTH WAS SUPPORTED VIA DAY TRIPS TO THE HARM REDUCTION CENTER IN FARGO. A SUMMER AND FALL FESTIVAL WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.


YOUTH FOOD AND ECOLOGY PARTNERSHIP: YFE WAS FORMED IN 2022 TO PROVIDE DIRECTION AND INPUT TO THE FIRST VISTA VOLUNTEER, WHO ADDRESSED QUESTIONS OF COMMUNITY ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD. IN 2023, FOLLOWING A YEAR OF WORK IDENTIFYING NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES, THE FYE LAUNCHED THE YOUTH STEWARDS PROGRAMS AND HOSTED 5 YOUTH TO ASSIST IN THE CARE OF GARDENS AT 3 LOCATIONS. PARTNERSHIP IN YFE HAS NOW EXPANDED TO INCLUDE BARAZA LA AFRIKA, CASA, HANASA, NEW AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT AGENCY, IMMIGRANT DEVELOPMENT CENTER, INDIGENOUS ASSOCIATION, AND FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UCC- MOORHEAD MN.
