OUR MISSION IS TO PARTNER WITH LOW-INCOME AND MINORITY COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHWEST TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND IMPROVE COMMUNITY HEALTH.

Part 3 - Line 4a

COMMUNITY ASSIST OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA - CONDUCTING EDUCATION, OUTREACH, HOME VISITS AND HEALTHY HOMES INTERVENTIONS IN LOW-INCOME HOUSING AND CONDUCTING COMMUNITY PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH. THE SERVICE AREA IS SOUTHERN ARIZONA. INSTALLED OVER 3,000 SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS SERVING OVER 6,000 INDIVIDUALS. CONDUCTED OVER 20 OUTREACH EVENTS TO OVER 3,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS. CONDUCTED COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION TRAINING THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN ARIZONA. REFERRED OVER 60 FAMILIES TO CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION PROGRAMS. CONDUCTED A SOLAR ENERGY PILOT PROJECT WITH OVER 24 INDIVIDUALS.


INSTALLED 28 RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEMS THROUGH SERI'S LOW-INCOME RAINWATER HARVESTING GRANT AND LOAN PROGRAM, AND CONDUCTED OVER 30 RAINWATER HARVESTING WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. ATTENDED COMMUNITY EVENTS AND EDUCATED PUBLIC ON RAINWATER HARVESTING. SERVICE AREA IS METROPOLITAN TUCSON, ARIZONA.


BUSINESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR BUSINESSES. DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TRAINING MATERIALS FOR BUSINESSES TO REDUCE THEIR USE OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS. 30 BUSINESSES VISITED. DEVELOPED NEW TRAINING PROGRAM ON REDUCING THE RISK OF FIRES AT SMALL BUSINESSES FROM THE USE OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS.
