FINANCING ALLIANCE FOR HEALTH ("FAH") IS A PUBLIC NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION INCORPORATED IN THE STATE OF IOWA ON MARCH 27, 2020. IN AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE HEALTH FOR ALL, FAH PARTNERS WITH GOVERNMENTS ON ALL STEPS OF FINANCING TO STRENGTHEN AND SUSTAIN COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS, WHILE LEVERAGING PRIMARY HEALTH CARE TO ATTAIN UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE. THE ORGANIZATION AIMS TO SERVE AS A FACILITATOR BETWEEN THE WORLDS OF FINANCE AND HEALTH IN GLOBAL SOUTH COUNTRIES SO AS TO PROVIDE VALUE-ADDED AND LONG-TERM EMBEDDED CAPACITY TO GOVERNMENTS IN DESIGNING AND FINANCING COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS.

THE FINANCING ALLIANCE FOR HEALTH PARTICIPATED IN THE AHBS III SYMPOSIUM THIS YEAR TITLED "ACHIEVING UHC IN AFRICA: STRONGER TOGETHER." THE EVENT HAD OVER 350 DELEGATES FROM 52 COUNTRIES WITH 31 AFRICAN COUNTRIES REPRESENTED AND OVER 80 PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS. THIS CONFERENCE RALLIED THE PRIVATE SECTOR SUPPORT FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE ("UHC") IN AFRICA AND THE PUBLIC SECTOR WAS REPRESENTED BY 4 MINISTERS OF HEALTH - HON. AARON MOTSOALEDI (SOUTH ARICA), HON. WILHELMINA JALLAH (LIBERIA), HON. BERNARD HAUFIKU, (NAMIBIA), HON. SILVIA LUTUCUTA (ANGOLA) AMONGST OTHER KEY OFFICIALS INCLUDING H.E. AMIRA ELFADIL, COMMISSIONER OF SOCIAL SERVICES, AFRICAN UNION, DR. TODA TAKAO (JICA) AND IQBAL SURVE (SEKUNJALO GROUP).THIS SYMPOSIUM DEMONSTRATED THE WILL OF STAKEHOLDERS TO COLLABORATE AND COMMIT TO A HEALTHIER AFRICA. THE OUTCOMES SHARED WITH SEVERAL MINISTRIES OF HEALTH WILL PROVIDE THE MUCH NEEDED INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TOWARDS UHC FOR AFRICA. THE FAH CO-AUTHORED A BLOG POST ON THINK GLOBAL HEALTH ON THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY HEALTH, PARTICULARLY IN TIMES OF CRISES SUCH AS THE ON-GOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC. FAH CONTRIBUTED TO THE ANALYSIS TO QUANTIFY THE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT ("PPE") NEEDS FOR CHWS TO SAFELY SUPPORT COVID-19 EFFORTS IN LOW - AND MIDDLE-INCOME COUNTRIES. AWARENESS AND EDUCATION:LAUNCHED THE FINANCING COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS FOR SCALE AND SUSTAINABILITY COURSE SERIES WHICH IS AN ONLINE COMMUNITY HEALTH FINANCING CURRICULUM IN COLLABORATION WITH THE COMMUNITY HEALTH ACADEMY. THIS COURSE WILL EQUIP LEADERS WITH THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO ADVOCATE FOR MORE FUNDING FOR THEIR COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS. COUNTRY ENGAGEMENT: ZIMBABWE: SUPPORTED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE 2020-2025 COSTED NATIONAL COMMUNITY HEALTH STRATEGY, COMMUNITY HEALTH (CH) PACKAGE AND INVESTMENT CASE.ZAMBIA: SUPPORTED FINALIZATION OF THE COSTED COMMUNITY HEALTH STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE INVESTMENT CASE.KENYA: CO-FACILITATED A MULTI-STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP TO REVIEW THE PREVIOUS CH STRATEGY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE 2020-2025 CH STRATEGY.ANALYTICAL TOOLS: REFINED AND UPDATED THE COMMUNITY HEALTH COMPARATIVE COSTING DATABASE, A DATABASE THAT AGGREGATES AND COMPARES COSTS FOR RUNNING NATIONAL COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS IN SEVERAL AFRICAN COUNTRIES COUNTRIES.
