YOUNG ADULT SURVIVORS UNITED (YASU) PROVIDES MENTAL HEALTH, SOCIAL, AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO YOUNG ADULT CANCER SURVIVORS DIAGNOSED BETWEEN AGES 18 AND 45. THIS POPULATION IS DEVELOPMENTALLY TRANSITIONING INTO EARLY ADULTHOOD AS THEY EARN INDEPENDENCE AND ESTABLISH INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS JUST WHEN BLINDSIDED BY CANCER, FORCING THEM TO PAUSE LIFE AND FIGHT FOR THEIR LIVES. YASU'S PROGRAMS ALLEVIATE THEIR ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, TRAUMA, AND DAILY STRESSORS BY OFFERING VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUPS, SOCIALS, FINANCIALASSISTANCE, FREE RESPITE EXPERIENCES, AS WELL AS SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR THEIR CAREGIVERS. ALL PROGRAMS ARE LED BY TRAINED FACILITATORS AND ARE OFFERED NATIONALLY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.

RAE OF HOPE - PROVIDES MEMBERS A FREE DAYLONG OR OVERNIGHT RESPITETRIP. RECIPIENTS HAVE A CHANCE TO TAKE A BREAK FROM EVERYDAY STRESSORS AND MENTALLY RECHARGE WITHOUT THE BURDEN OF COSTS. MEMBERS ARE AWARDED ONE TRIP UNTIL ALL APPLICANTS HAVE BEEN AWARDED. THEY CAN REAPPLY ON ANANNUAL BASIS.


OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES RELATE TO SOCIALS, EVENTS AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE ORGANIZATION.


FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - THE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES UP TO $500 TO YOUNG ADULT SURVIVORS WHO ARE REGISTERED AS A MEMBER. ASSISTANCE CAN BE UTILIZED TOWARDS MEDICAL BILLS, RENT OR MORTGAGE PAYMENTS, UTILITY BILLS, FERTILITY PRESERVATION COSTS, INTEGRATIVE ONCOLOGY SERVICES, AND BASIC NEEDS VIA ELECTRONIC GROCERY OR GAS GIFT CARDS.


SUPPORT GROUPS - THE SUPPORT GROUPS PROGRAM IS LED BY PROFESSIONAL OR TRAINED ADVOCATES AND OFFERS A SAFE SPACE TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS WHO CAN RELATE WHILE EXCHANGING THE NECESSARY SUPPORT TO BEST COPE WITH CANCER AND THE UNIQUE CHALLENGES IT BRINGS TO THE YOUNG ADULT CANCER POPULATION.
