O2 UTAH WORKS TO CLEAN UTAH'S AIR AND PROMOTE CLIMATE ACTION BY PARTICIPATING IN ELECTIONS AND DESIGNING POLICY.

CITY CLEAN ENERGY GOALS - IN 2022, O2 UTAH WORKED WITH VARIOUS CITIES IN UTAH TO ADVANCE MUNICIPAL GOALS FOR 100% CARBON-FREE ELECTRICITY. THIS INVOLVEMENT INCLUDED ORGANIZING RESIDENTS TO PUSH FOR CLEAN ENERGY, EDUCATING MAYORS AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS, AND PARTICIPATING IN MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS TO ADVANCE THIS GOAL.


IMPROVE STAFF UNDERSTANDING OF CLEAN AIR AND CLIMATE ISSUES; EVALUATE CITY PROGRESS AND PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAM; EVALUATE THE LATEST IN FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL CLIMATE EFFORTS; DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH POLICYMAKERS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR CLIMATE AND CLEAN AIR GOALS; AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY IN UTAH AND TACKLE OUR LOCAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANCE.


PROSPERITY 2030 - IN 2022, O2 UTAH WORKED TO INTRODUCE A FRAMEWORK FOR REDUCING POLLUTION EMISSIONS IN UTAH BY 50% BY 2030. THIS FRAMEWORK HAS POLICIES FOR REDUCING EMISSIONS FROM MOBILE SOURCES, HOMES AND BUILDINGS, LARGE POLLUTING INDUSTRIES, AND OTHER SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION. O2 UTAH CALLS THIS FRAMEWORK "PROSPERITY 2030." IN OCTOBER THE ORGANIZATION HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE AND PRESENTED THE CONCEPT TO THE PUBLIC ALONG WITH ITS LEGISLATIVE SPONSOR. O2 UTAH WORKED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND POLICYMAKERS ON THIS PROPOSAL. IN ADDITION, O2 UTAH CONDUCTED FOCUS GROUPS TO UNDERSTAND THE PUBLIC RESPONSE TO THIS PROPOSAL.


PUBLIC EDUCATION - O2 UTAH WORKED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON AIR POLLUTION ISSUES ALONG THE WASATCH FRONT. THIS EDUCATION INVOLVED EXPLAINING THE POLLUTION PROBLEM, WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT, AND IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS RELATED TO POLLUTION.
