BEN MILAM INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY IS A MIDLAND ISD SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP COMMITTED TO PRODUCING BILINGUAL, BILITERATE AND SOCIOCULTURAL COMPETENT SCHOLARS WHO WILL EXCEL IN A GLOBALIZED 21ST CENTURY ECONOMY. BEN MILAM INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OPENED ITS DOORS IN THE FALL OF 2019, SERVING PRE-KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN SCHOLARS. EACH YEAR A GRADE LEVEL IS ADDED, UNTIL FULLY EXPANDED TO A SCHOOL-WIDE DUAL LANGUAGE CAMPUS SERVING PRE-KINDERGARTEN TO FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS. SCHOLARS WILL BE FULLY IMMERSED IN AN ENRICHED CURRICULUM TAUGHT IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH ADDING FRENCH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE BEGINNING IN FOURTH GRADE. WE WILL IMPLEMENT A TWO-WAY DUAL LANGUAGE MODEL WITH A 90% SPANISH AND 10% ENGLISH LANGUAGE ALLOCATION UPON ENTRY TO OUR PROGRAM. EACH SUBSEQUENT YEAR, ENGLISH INSTRUCTION WILL INCREASE UNTIL STUDENTS ENGAGE IN 50/50 LANGUAGE ALLOCATION BY THE FOURTH GRADE. BY THE END OF THE FIFTH GRADE, BEN MILAM INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY STUDENTS WILL MEET OR EXCEED GRADE-LEVEL STANDARDS IN BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH.ALL BEN MILAM INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY STUDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO VARIOUS AVENUES OF TECHNOLOGY TO ENHANCE THEIR LEARNING EXPERIENCE. STAFF WILL WORK COLLABORATIVELY TO ESTABLISH A CULTURE OF HIGH EXPECTATIONS BY EMBEDDING THE SIX-EXCEPTIONAL SYSTEMS OF NO EXCUSES UNIVERSITY. SUCH SYSTEMS WILL FOSTER A MINDSET THAT PREPARES STUDENTS FOR COLLEGE.
