Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TO DISRUPT THE LEGACY OF EDUCATIONAL FAILURE BY PROVIDING FAMILIES INFORMATION, TRAINING, MENTORING, TOOLS, AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
DURING THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR, WE IMPACTED 169 FAMILIES AND SUPPORTED 303 SCHOLARS. WE GIVE PARENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A VOICE - TO HAVE A CHOICE - IN SELECTING THE BEST EDUCATIONAL SITUATION FOR THEIR CHILDREN. THIS IS A CRITICAL STEP IN MOVING AT-RISK STUDENTS FROM CHALLENGING LIFE SITUATIONS INTO LIVES OF CONFIDENCE, ACHIEVEMENT, AND STABILITY.
THROUGH OUR EXPANDED EFFORTS, WE WILL IMPROVE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT FOR STUDENTS BY BEING (1) AN INFORMATIONAL RESOURCE FOR ALL FAMILIES AND (2) A FINANCIAL RESOURCE FOR FAMILIES IN LOW SOCIO-ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES. AN ANECDOTAL FROM ONE OF OUR FAMILIES. "THE EMPOWERMENT WE AS A FAMILY HAVE GAINED, SUCH AS KNOWLEDGE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES, WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN ADVOCATE, AND THE UNDERSTANDING THAT WE HAVE CHOICE HAS ALLOWED OUR FAMILY TO GROW AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE TO US. OUR CHILDREN'S SUCCESS REMAINS OUR MISSION, AND WE ARE GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL THAT PARENTS CHALLENGE BELIEVED AND INVESTED IN US." - TORRES FAMILY
OUR CHALLENGES ARE PARENTAL AND SCHOLAR-CENTRIC AS SOME OF OUR STUDENTS ARE STILL STRUGGLING SINCE COVID IN TRYING TO CATCH UP ACADEMICALLY. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE TUTORING AND BRAIN INTEGRATION THAT ARE BREAKING MANY OF THESE BARRIERS TO HELP STUDENTS INCREASE THEIR ACADEMIC PROGRESS IN READING AND MATH. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL BREAKTHROUGHS THIS YEAR. PARENTS ALSO HAVE HIGHLIGHTED THEIR CHILDREN'S SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS. BASED ON THEIR COMMENTS, MANY WERE PROACTIVE AND HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO ADDRESS AND TREAT THEIR CHILDREN'S HEALTH ISSUES. PARENTS CHALLENGE HAS PROVIDED SUPPORT TO FAMILIES REQUESTING SUPPORT FOR THEIR SCHOLARS.
