WORK OPTIONS FOR WOMEN HELPS PEOPLE OVERCOME BARRIERS TO SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT BY BUILDING CONFIDENCE WHILE PROVIDING RESOURCES AND CULINARY TRAINING.

IN 2021, THERE WERE 132 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN OUR CULINARY JOB SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM, WITH 67% BECOMING SUSTAINABLY EMPLOYED. 72% OF THOSE WERE EMPLOYED AT THE 6 MONTH MARK, AND 69% WERE EMPLOYED AT THE 12 MONTH MARK. WE WERE ABLE TO OVERCOME CONSIDERABLE OBSTACLES PRESENTED BY THE COVID PANDEMIC, AND REMAINED OPEN FOR IN-PERSON TRAINING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. OF THE STUDENTS SERVED, 100% WERE LOW INCOME, 76% HAVE EXPERIENCED HOMELESSNESS, 59% IDENTIFIED AS FEMALE, 40% IDENTIFIED AS MALE, 1% IDENTIFIED AS NON-BINARY. 57% WERE ADULTS LIVING WITH A CHILD, 31% HAD NO EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS. 79% HAD DIRECT EXPERIENCE WITH THE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND 40% HAD A FELONY. 18% OF ENROLLED STUDENTS IDENTIFY AS LATINO AND/OR HISPANIC, 25% IDENTIFY AS BLACK, 21% AS WHITE, 11% AS MULTIRACIAL.
