LOCALLY HAITI ADVOCATES FOR AND INVESTS IN LOCALLY LED INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT THE VISION OF OUR PARTNER COMMUNITIES IN RURAL HAITI.

EDUCATION: PRE-SCHOOL, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY: LOCALLY HAITI SUPPORTS OPERATIONS AT ST. PAUL'S PRE-SCHOOL, PRIMARY, AND SECONDARY SCHOOL IN PETIT TROU. IN THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR, 422 STUDENTS BENEFITTED FROM ST. PAUL'S UNIQUE AND HOLISTIC EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, WHICH INCLUDED TRADITIONAL COURSEWORK IN ADDITION TO HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN AGRICULTURE, GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP. HIGHER EDUCATION: LOCALLY HAITI HAS FUNDED HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR OVER 30 STUDENTS SINCE ITS FOUNDING. IN 2021, LOCALLY HAITI FUNDED ONE HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENT, MICHELINE, WHO IS FINISHING HER DEGREE IN EDUCATION. EDUCATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE: IN 2021, LOCALLY HAITI FUNDED THE IMPROVEMENT OR INSTALLATION OF THREE KEY COMPONENTS OF INFRASTRUCTURE ON CAMPUS: - COMPLETION OF SECOND PHASE OF AN EXPANSION OF THE ST. PAUL'S FARM & AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION CENTER, THIS INCLUDED DRILLING OF A WELL, INTERNAL FENCING, AND COMPLETION OF EXTERIOR WALL. - NEAR COMPLETION OF A NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL ON ST. PAUL'S CAMPUS. - NEAR COMPLETION OF A NEW STAFF RESIDENCE ON ST. PAUL'S CAMPUS.


EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE: ON AUGUST 14TH A DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE STRUCK 5 MILES FROM PETIT TROU DE NIPPES, OUR PARTNER COMMUNITY OF OVER 30 YEARS. THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF DONORS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, WE FUELED A DIRECT AND IMPACTFUL RESPONSE THROUGH OUR LOCAL PARTNERS. THIS INCLUDED: SUPPORT FOR MOBILE HEALTH CLINICS, TRANSPORTATION OF DONATED EMERGENCY RESPONSE SUPPLIES, EXTRA FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE LOCAL CLINIC, DEDICATED PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT FROM A HAITIAN DOCTOR AND SPECIALIST, REPAIR OF DAMAGED WATER WELLS, DEDICATED CASH AID THROUGH GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT CLUBS AND MENTORS, PROGRAMS TO REPAIR AND REBUILD RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES, INVESTMENT IN REBUILDING ON ST. PAUL'S CAMPUS, AND DIRECT CASH SUPPORT TO COMMUNITY LEADERS. ALL TOLD, OVER 250,000 WAS INVESTED IN THESE PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS.


AGRICULTURE & FOOD SECURITY: LOCALLY HAITI SUPPORTS FAMILY FARMS BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO SEED, TOOLS, GOATS, AND TRAININGS THROUGH CONSULTATIONS WITH THREE FULL-TIME STAFF AGRONOMISTS IN PETIT TROU. IN ADDITION, AGRONOMISTS WORK WITH STUDENTS AT ST. PAUL'S SCHOOL, PROVIDING FORMAL INSTRUCTION IN THE CLASSROOM AS WELL AS WEEKLY HANDS-ON LEARNING SESSIONS WORKING ON THE CAMPUS FARM. AGRONOMISTS ALSO VISIT WITH FAMILIES OF ST. PAUL'S STUDENTS AND STAFF, PROVIDING RESOURCES AND CONSULTATION THAT INCREASE OUTPUTS AND ACCESS TO NUTRITION. FINALLY, AGRONOMISTS PARTNER WITH COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS TO HELP FOOD GARDENS AND FAMILY FARMS INCREASE YIELDS AND ENHANCE ACCESS TO NUTRITION FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE FAMILIES IN PETIT TROU.


HEALTH: LOCALLY HAITI AIMS TO REINFORCE THE CAPACITY OF LOCAL HEALTH LEADERS AND CARE PROVIDERS THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CLINIC. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: - TRAINING AND FUNDING OF 41 COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE WORKERS - DIRECT SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL CLINIC IN PETIT TROU DE NIPPES - REINFORCEMENT AND CREATION OF SYNERGIES BETWEEN HEALTH, AGRICULTURE, EDUCATION, AND GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT. - IN 2021, WE EXPANDED HEALTH SERVICES AND SUPPORT DUE TO AUGUST 14 EARTHQUAKE GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT: LOCALLY HAITI PARTNERS WITH LOCAL LEADERS AND EXPERT HAITIAN ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE DEDICATED PROGRAMMING FOR GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT IN PETIT TROU. THIS INCLUDES PAYING AND TRAINING LOCAL MENTORS AND COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS, FUNDING GIRLS' CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES, AND FUNDING PRACTICAL TRAININGS FOR GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN.
