WE ARE AN ORGANIZATION OF VOLUNTEERS OF OVER 4,000 MEMBERS AND ONE EMPLOYEE. WE VOLUNTEER IN THE STATE OF CO TO SUPPORT OUR VETERANS. WE PROVIDE MONETARY AND IN KIND DONATIONS TO ACTIVE DUTY RETIRED THEIR FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS THE VA HOSPITALS AND CLINICS. WE SUPPORT CHILDREN AND YOUTH AND WE ARE THE LARGEST WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC SERVICE ORGANIZATION.

THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY GIRLS STATE PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PROGRAMS IN THE U.S. GUIDED BY THE PRINCIPLE "FOR GOD AND COUNTRY" THE PROGRAM EPITOMIZES THE ALA MISSION TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE BROUGHT US OUR FREEDOM BY CONTINUING TO TRAIN YOUNG WOMEN TO BE LEADERS GROUNDED IN PATRIOTISM AND AMERICANISM. THE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES ARE TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING OF THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT FREEDOMS AND TRADITIONS TO INSPIRE YOUNG WOMEN OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND INTERESTS TO ENGAGE WITH OUR SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT STIMULATES PASSION FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS WITHIN OUR REPUBLIC AND THE BRAVE INDIVIDUALS WHO FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM. THE PROGRAM FOSTERS CONFIDENCE GROWTH AND LONG FRIENDSHIPS. THE COST OF THE ALA GIRLS STATE PROGRAM ARE UNDERWRITTEN BY EACH STATE LEVER AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY DEPARTMENT OF COLORADO. IT IS A WEEK LONG PROGRAM HOSTED BY A LOCAL COLLEGE UNIVERSITY IN THE STATE OF CO.
THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SUPPORTS THE VETERANS HEALTH CARE SYSTEM OF COLORADO AND THE VA COMMUNITY LIVING CENTERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE VA MEDICAL CENTERS PROVIDE QUALITY HEALTHCARE TO VETERANS IN OUR COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING AREAS. FROM SURGERY TO DIAGNOSTICS PRIMARY CARE TO REHABILITATION OUR VETERANS DEPEND ON THESE FACILITIES. MANY ARE ARE LIMITED INCOME AND SOME ARE HOMELESS. THE BENEFITS INCLUDE CAREGIVERS RECREATIONAL THERAPY ASSIST HOMELESS VETERANS LGBT VETERAN CARE RETURNING SERVICE MEMBERS. THE ALA SUPPORTS THROUGH MONETARY AND IN KIND DONATIONS AS WELL AS VOLUNTEER HOURS BY SERVING AT THE FRONT DESK OR A RED COAT AMBASSADOR. IN ADDITION THE ALA SUPPORTS THE FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION. THE FISHER HOUSE IS A HOME LOCATED IN AURORA CO. THE FH RECOGNIZES THE SACRIFICES OF OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN THE SERVICE. THEY SUPPORT VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHILE A LOVED ONE IS RECEIVING MEDICAL CARE AT THE VA HOSPITAL OR AN APPROVED FACILITY. THEIR GOAL IS TO MEET HUMANITARIAN NEED BEYOND THAT PROVIDED BY THE VA. THEY OFFER A PLACE TO STAY FOR FREE IN LIEU OF A COSTLY HOTEL THEY OFFER COMFORT AND SUPPORT FOR OUR MILITARY FAMILIES DURING A MEDICAL CRISIS.
MEMBERS HELPING MEMBERS - THAT'S THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY'S MISSION OF SERVICE NOT SELF IN ACTION. HARD TIMES CAN FALL UPON US AT ANY MOMENT. THAT'S WHEN THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY IS COMMITTED TO HELP. AEF IS A NATIONAL GRANT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ELIGIBLE MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY WHO HAVE ENDURED A SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL SETBACK AS THE RESULT OF AN ACT OF NATURE OR OTHER PERSONAL CRISIS. THE APPLICANT MUST HAVE RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE OR HAVE BEEN DISPLACED OR EVACUATED FROM THEIR RESIDENCE AND HAD OUR OF POCKET EXPENSES FOR FOOD CLOTHING AND SHELTER. GRANTS MAY BE AWARDED UP TO $3,000.
