IN FY22. WE OFFERED THREE 12-WEEK SESSIONS, SERVING ROUGHLY 90 STUDENTS COMING PRIMARILY FROM EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, AND ECUADOR. WE ALSO SAW 2 AFGHAN REFUGEES ATTEND. THE ESL PROGRAM'S YOUTH COMPONENT PROVIDED FUN HANDS-ON EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND GAMES FOR 6 CHILDREN WHOSE PARENTS WERE ENROLLED IN THE CLASS. THROUGH A GENEROUS GRANT FROM FOUNDATION FOR METROWEST, WE WERE ABLE TO AUGMENT OUR DINNER PROGRAM, PROVIDING MEALS 2 DAYS A WEEK FOR FAMILIES TO HELP COMBAT FOOD INSECURITY. WE SERVED 185 MEALS IN MAY AND JUNE 2022. IN MARCH 2022, WE HELD OUR FIRST COMPASSION IN ACTION WEBINAR IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OPEN KITCHENS TITLED "SHARING THE AFGHAN REFUGEE EXPERIENCE: VOICES, CULTURE AND CUISINE" WITH 98 REGISTRANTS/ATTENDEES. WE ALSO HAD AN ONLINE TRADITIONAL AFGHAN FOOD DEMONSTRATION BY ARIANA RESTAURANT LOCATED IN BRIGHTON, MA. THE COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAM IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR STRENGTH-BASED VERSUS DEFICIT DESIGN MODEL TO OUR PROGRAMMING, DELIVERING SERVICES IN THE CONTEXT OF COMMUNITY TO BUILD AUTHENTIC AND TRUSTING RELATIONSHIPS. THE FOLLOWING NUMBERS ARE ESTIMATES, BASED ON THE PRIMARY STAFF OF THE PROGRAMMING AND DIRECT EXPENSES. ONLY $516 OF THE GRANTS AND ALLOCATIONS WAS RESTRICTED TO THIS PROGRAM. ALL OTHER FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE PROGRAMMING WERE FROM THE OTHER UNRESTRICTED DONATIONS AND CONTRIBUTIONS.
