TRULY AFFORDABLE HOUSING - THE PERMANENTLY AFFORDABLE LIVING INITIATIVE AIMS TO STUDY AND ESTABLISH DEVELOPMENT CONCEPTS THAT LOWER CONSTRUCTION COSTS, ENABLE LONG-TERM AFFORDABILITY, ENCOURAGE FOOD PRODUCTION AND ENHANCE COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY. AN ONGOING ACTIVITY, NHCDC IDENTIFIED MULTIPLE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND ENGAGED IN DUE DILIGENCE AND NEGOTIATIONS WITH PROPERTY OWNERS. ONE PROJECT IS CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION.


SOLARIZE KAUAI - THIS PROGRAM SEEKS TO ENCOURAGE HOUSEHOLDS TO SEEK INFORMATION REGARDING SOLAR ENERGY INSTALLATIONS. THE PROGRAM WAS LAUNCHED IN 2019 AND IS ONGOING. NO INSTALLATIONS WERE COMPLETED IN 2021.


YIGBY - YES IN GOD'S BACKYARD IS A PROGRAM THAT SEEKS TO WORK WITH RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS TO DEVELOP HOUSING IN CHURCH-OWNED LANDS. IN FY 2020, SHUTDOWNS DUE TO COVID-19 CAUSED ALL PROJECTS TO BE PLACED ON HOLD. THE PROGRAM IS ONGOING, BUT NO UNITS WERE BUILT IN FY 2021.
